Slides Close Highway 14 Near Fort Collins

Highway 14 near Fort Collins, Colorado was shut down for part of Friday afternoon.

Two separate land slides were caused by heavy rain.

The mud slides brought rocks and logs with them, blocking two sections of the freeway.

While some vehicles were stranded between the two slides, no one was caught in either one.

Rain gauges in the area detected nearly an inch of rain in just an hour and a half.

Lac-Megantic Death Toll Hits 28, With 22 Still Missing

Authorities in Lac-Megantic, Quebec have now recovered twenty-eight bodies of victims from last Saturday's train crash and explosion.

Twenty-two people are still missing, but presumed dead.

Several hundred people are still under evacuation, due to the oil spill that was also a result of the accident.

Authorities say that the crash was caused because the air brakes on the train failed.

It had been parked nearly eight miles uphill from Lac-Megantic, over night.

Late Friday night, a fire occurred on the train, but it is unclear if that was what caused the brake failure.

The Canadian Transportation Safety Board is continuing the investigation.

6 Killed in French Train Crash

Six people were killed, on Friday, when a train derailed and crashed into the Bretigny-sur-Orge, France station.

Dozens were injured, including nine who are in  critical condition.

Nearly four hundred people were aboard the plane when it struck the station.

Many were heading out of Paris, for the Bastille Day holiday, on Sunday.

All trains out of Paris' Gare d'Austerlitz have been cancelled until further notice, due to the accident.

Al Shabaab Suicide Attack Kills 5

A member of Al Shabaab carried out a suicide attack in Mogadishu, Somalia, on Friday.

Five civilians were killed and two African Union peacekeepers were injured.

Due to the timing of the explosion, it is believed that the convoy the peacekeepers were in was the target.

Eighteen thousand AU troops are in Somalia, helping combat the terrorist organization, which had over run most of the country.

43 Killed in Iraq Violence

A suicide bomber struck a popular cafe in Kirkuk, Iraq, on Friday.

Thirty-eight people were killed and twenty-five were injured in the blast.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

However, as the cafe is mostly frequented by Shiites, Al Qadea is being blamed for it.

In Mosul, a suicide car bomber killed four police officers.

A senior police officer was assassinate in a drive by shooting, in Tikrit.

More than twenty-six hundred people have been killed in bombings and shootings, in Iraq, since April, making 2013 one of the deadliest years.
