With the Inauguration done, we have one year, nine months, and six days to get our GOP rear ends together. There has been a lot of talk going around the interwebs about the factioning of the GOP. Eh, nothing new there. There has also been a lot of talk about the Libs trying to break split us apart, again, eh, nothing new there either. I have seen this kind of rhetoric a ton over my twenty plus years in politics, but this time is slightly different, we are more connected now than ever before in history so the rhetoric is spreading fast. For the first time, I am starting to see the Liberal agenda against the GOP starting to work. This is my answer to this rhetoric: Shut up, turn off your computers, get off your rear ends, and DO SOMETHING!
I have been in politics almost my entire life. Some of my first memories are those of pro-life rallies my parents took us to in the early 70's and helping to stuff envelopes after. I have worked and been a Campaign Manager for local governmental and Congressional campaigns, worked for Presidential Campaigns, and volunteered for every level of governmental candidate. I started out working for the left, but I quickly woke up and worked my rear end off for the right. Even with all of that, I have never been a political insider. Why? To be perfectly honest, my ethics in combination with big mouth has been my biggest obstacle as well as my biggest badge of honor. See, I have never been the one to show up to political meetings and bless everything Republicans do. When I don't agree with them or I see them trying to hide things, I have no issues with calling them out on it publicly. I mean, that is our jobs as citizens, donors, and activists, to not put up with the BS that can come out of any person in power.
For the first time in my life, I am connected almost constantly with people of like mind to myself. We are sick and tired of the moderate nonsense coming out of the RNC. We are sick and tired of playing nice with the left while they are playing in the mud. It is time to take the fight to them. I am thrilled to so connected to these people, there were years there where I thought I was out there on my own. I love seeing all day long on twitter, facebook, and other sites, that people are as angry as I am. However, being angry isn't enough.
While I am thrilled that people are beginning to feel empowered by social media sites like twitter, I don't think that the problem is being solved by social media. Part of the problem, in my opinion, is social media. We, as a Conservative society, sit on sites like Twitter, write blogs, and do internet radio shows, but how is that changing anything? Ok, maybe the boys in charge get to see the anger more readily, eh, marginal at best is the change that will make. Maybe we get to feel somewhat more empowered and connected, umm, yay, great. I do see much of the good that is coming out of social media, it is a great place to share the information we collect, but I think that we need to see the reality of the bad also. The problem is the same problem that we have had since the first time I stood on a chair and told the state GOP central committee leadership that they were a bunch of power grabbing thugs in suits. They are still power grubbing thugs in suits! Why, because the angry people who say "something needs to be done!" are sitting at home, behind their computers, when they should be showing up to state central committee meetings and standing on chairs themselves.
We are electing these RNC members. Yes, WE are electing these RNC members! If you don't like how things are run, SHOW UP! Make your voices heard! I am so sick of hearing that things never change, but when it comes to central committee meeting time, local and statewide, the very same people are there who have been there for the last twenty years. If you want change, it doesn't come easy and it has to be worked for. You have to show up month after month, not just during election season. You have to demand change and not allow yourselves to be pushed around. Don't allow excuses or rhetoric. Don't allow pacification or demeaning language. Don't allow them to make you powerless. They only have power if the power is given to them.
The same thing happened when it came to the election. So many were shocked that we lost, really!? To all those who were really overly shocked, how many phone calls did you make? How many doors did you knock on? How many times did you show up to your local campaign offices and offer your help? Now, I am completely in the thought camp of changing the narrative, taking back society, and calling the media on their total lefty BS. I also believe that there has to be a hands on element to winning elections, and I think that somewhere that element has become lost to many conservatives. Very rarely are you going to change someones’ mind, or convince them to vote by arguing with them over Twitter of Facebook. You might be able to convince someone to vote for your candidate or vote at all if you show up and look them in the eye. People are still people and people are enticed by human contact. That is a fact. RoBo calls are worthless, emails deleted, it is much harder to slam a door in an inspired face (not impossible, but certainly harder).
We had multiple problems with this last election. One, we allowed the liberals to paint us as a bunch of hate mongers. There is not a lefty that knows me that can ever paint me as a hate monger. Why? If they try it, I am in their faces calling BS and putting the proof into their laps, which they can never do. Playing nice gets us nowhere. Time to take the fight to them and show the world the hypocrisy of the left. Harder than it sounds but it can be done if we quit caring how it looks.
Two, technology, we just are not using it correctly. Like I said, I like Twitter, we are connecting, but I think that social media is giving us a false sense of comfort. We are not using the data mining and the cool features that technology give to us. While that program that the RNC tried to use didn't work (don't even get me started on that fiasco) I think that they were not using it correctly and it helped us loose at the end of the day. I worked, tested, and helped to implement the Rove election plan, it worked. I think that it could have benefited from the tech that we have today, but it worked because of the human element. If you don't know how the Rove plan worked, here is a quick run down of election day. We identified all registered republicans and conservatives (data mining would have been a huge help there but we do do some as well as we could for the time) and we called you all day long every few hours until you voted. Some states we actually had physical lists of those people that showed up to the polls. It worked. In the weeks that lead up to election day, every single identified conservative had a real life person show up at their door, shake their hand, look them in the eye and urge them to vote. Human contact, it worked. I am still a firm believer that the Rove plan mixed with the tech that conservatives would dominate elections.
Three, lazy conservatives. Yes, I said lazy. Lazy conservatives didn't knock on doors or make phone calls. They didn't show up to meetings or sign up for conventions. Those things make your voices heard. The powers that be continue business as usually because they did not hear the call for change.
Four, our primary process. Our primary process is jacked up. I live in a central state that is one of the last to vote, so the choice for the RNC candidate was already done. That just pisses me off. I think that we would have had a completely different outcome in the primary had all the primaries been on the same day.
Five, coolness, we just don't look cool. We need more cool conservatives out there in the public eye. When I first joined twitter, someone sent me a link to one of Dana Loesch's videos. Here was this chic in a rock t-shirt, jeans, high boots, leather bands around her arms, hot, and absolutely in your face about being conservative. I almost cried. Ok, a little dramatic, but absolutely true, while I may not be nearly as cool as she is, I saw a lot of myself in her. I wore rock t-shirts to central committee meetings, my first CR meeting I had blue hair, I was in your face conservative and people were totally shocked when meeting me that I was a conservative. I was a different kind of conservative than the stereo type, in some ways, at my older age, I still am that anti-stereo type conservative. We need more of these conservative and they need to be out front leading the conservative charge. We need them on TV everyday showing the world that you can be used conservative and cool, the two are not mutually exclusive.
Six, lastly, we were cheated and our voting process has failed. I may sound like a sore loser, but I have been looking at election results for more than twenty years and the results don't jive. I know that there are many many election professionals that agree with me, frankly, some of the results that I have looked over are mathematically impossible. I could go on all day about that as I spent weeks collecting the results, but that ship has sailed and it is time that we talk about how to never let it happen again. We need to get control over how the election process is run. We need voter id. We need only citizens to be voting. We need not to be intimidated out of communities. We need to take technology out of voting, there should always be a hand filled out paper copy to fall back on. Frankly, I don't get why we ever allowed it in the first place. My area does the #2 pencil bubbles, like you did in school, and it is the most fail proof system that I have ever seen. We need to go back to it. We also need to get rid of early voting. That has proven to be corrupted in its very nature. At the end of the day it is your duty as a citizen to vote, we need to make that our focus and get away from the "lets make it easy for you too". Laziness has gotten us into this mess, it will take physical work to get us out and that means driving to the poll on election day.
I am going to give you a warning, the left has moved into our central committee meetings at all the levels disguised as Paulbots. I used to work for left, I recognize the tactics as well as many of the people. They learned our play fair playbook and are using it against us. Leadership is going to do nothing about it because they are too busy still trying to play fair, the bunch of weenies that they are. Unless you stand up now and start doing something physically, then they have won and the game is over. You will have given away our country, yes YOU will have given away our country. I speak to all of you who didn't get off of their couches, to the rest *HIGH FIVE* . I don't say "I" or "we" there because I showed up and in some circles am not well like because of it. I still showed up and continue to do so. I made phone calls, I knock on doors, and at times I go to the left to change hearts and minds. I go to meetings and stand on chairs, I make myself heard. There is no running from me. I do all these things even though I had paid my dues years ago, but things have changed and those dues need to be paid again. I will not let my country go down without a fight. You will drag me kicking and screaming in the leftist agenda. There is no middle ground, this is WAR.
Sorry that this may have seemed somewhat condescending, that is not how I wanted it to come off but it is what it is. It is the reality of the situation and many Conservatives need a swift kick the ass to wake the hell up. I am sick of seeing sugar coated pontifications on why we lost this or why we came off that way, because no one is listening and they just are not helping. Thank you for reading this.
