Jacksonville Airport Closed by 2 Suspicious Packages

Jacksonville International Airport was shutdown, on Tuesday evening.

According to a spokesman, two suspicious packages were found in the Florida airport.

One of the packages is inside the terminal, while the second is in the parking garage.

The entire airport has been shut down and evacuated, while police investigate.

At this point, there is no set time for reopening the airport.

Inbound flights are being rerouted, while out bound flights have been cancelled.

Veterans Cross Barricades to View War Memorials in DC

Three veteran groups refused to be blocked by the government shutdown.

At the World War II Memorial a group of veterans from Mississippi came up to the closed signs and kept on going.

It was unclear who removed the barricades, for the veterans, but a way through was made for them.

Police were called, but they made no effort to remove the veterans from the memorial, which immortalizes the war they fought in.

The group from Mississippi was later followed by a group from Iowa whose way was never blocked.

Both groups were escorted by Republican congressmen, who stated they wished to pay homage to the veterans.

The story repeated at the Korean War Memorial, where a veterans group from Puerto Rico had come to lay a wreath.

Multiple veterans, who were interviewed, commented that Congress should be replaced if it couldn't keep the government running.

US Government Shutdown

Tuesday saw the beginning of the US government's shutdown.

President Obama accused the Republicans of holding the country hostage, while the Democrats rejected yet another offer, from the Republicans, to restore funding to the government.

It was the third offer from the Republicans, while none have been offered by the Democrats.

Eight hundred thousand government workers have been put on unpaid leave, due to the shutdown.

National parks, museums, commissaries on military bases, and various government agencies are amongst the many things closed due to no longer having funding.

With the Democrats unwilling to negotiate with Republicans, it is unclear how long the shutdown will last.

Very Deadly September for Iraq

September was the deadliest month for Iraq, in over five years.

Nine hundred and seventy-nine people were killed in acts of terrorism, the grand majority of whom were civilians.

More than double that number were injured in the attacks.

With three months to go, 2013's total is already at five thousand seven hundred and forty, which is already more than were killed in 2012.

Terror attacks have continued to increase as the Syrian civil war continues to push on the strained relations between Shiites and Sunnis.

Many Iraqis fear that the continued violence will send their own country back into civil war.

China Continues Searching for 58 Missing Fishermen

The search continues for fifty-eight sailors missing in the South China Sea.

Three fishing boats sank, Sunday afternoon, off the coast of China.

Eighty-eight sailors were aboard the three vessels.

Fourteen sailors were rescued on Monday.

On Tuesday, fourteen more were rescued, while the bodies of another two were found.

 Twenty-two ships, four planes, and three helicopters are conducting the search operations.

South Korea Launches Massive Military Parade

Tuesday saw a massive military parade take place in Seoul as South Korea celebrated the anniversary of the creation of it's military.

Thousands of soldiers, armored vehicles, tanks, and mobile missile platforms toured through the city as helicopters and jets performed above.

South Korea also used the event to show off new hardware and weapons, including locally made cruise missiles.

The government made it perfectly clear that the show was not just for their own people, but also a warning to North Korea.
