Colorado Teacher Cleared by Police After Placing Tape on Children's Mouths

An Aurora, Colorado teacher accused of taping her student's mouths shut has been cleared of any wrong doing by police.

According to police the teacher joked with the children that if she taped their mouths shut, maybe they would be quiet when the class was in the library.

The second graders, at Fulton Academy of Excellence, thought the idea was funny, and asked the teacher to place tape on their mouths.

They continued to laugh and joke about it while the tape was on their mouths and throughout the rest of the school day.

It was not until after one of the children told a parent, that there was any problem.

The teacher could still face disciplinary action, from Aurora Public Schools, and will stay on paid administrative leave while a decision is made by the district.

Aurora Police Officer Foils Bank Robber's Get Away

A robber struck at the US Bank at 2990 South Peoria Street, in Aurora, Colorado, Saturday afternoon.

As he went to make his escape he was confronted by an Aurora police officer.

A car chase began, but didn't last long as the robber high centered his car on a rock, in someone's yard.

When the robber tried making a run for it, on foot, the officer shot him.

Witnesses described multiple shots, but it is unclear if the man was hit more than once.

He was taken to the hospital, where he is under going treatment.

His condition has not yet been released.

Springs Fire Burns 28,000 Acres in California

With about twenty-eight thousand acres burned, the Springs Fire has reached thirty percent containment.

Officials do not believe full containment will be accomplished until May 13.

Nearly two thousand firefighters are battling the blaze, which began on Thursday, near Camarillo, California.

Record temperatures, Santa Ana winds, and low humidity contributed to it's quick spread.

Fifteen homes have been lost to the flames and there are around four thousand more in danger.

On Saturday, Point Mugu U.S. Naval Air Station lifted the order for non essential personnel to stay home as smoke, that had covered the base on Friday, cleared out.

Jobbik Holds Anti-Semitic Rally in Budapest

Hundreds of members of Jobbik, Hungary's third largest political party, rallied in Budapest, on Saturday.

They protested the city's hosting of the World Jewish Congress, on Sunday.

Jobbik regularly accuses Jews of trying to take over the country, and they say that the Congress is an attempt to buy the country.

Police kept a careful eye on the rally, specifically on those dressed all in black.

Black uniforms were the mark of Jobbik's Hungary Guard, which has been banned, due to attacks on other ethnic groups.

The government had tried to block the rally from taking place, but a court overruled the ban, saying that blocking it would be unconstitutional.

Chinese Protest in the Streets Against PX

Hundreds of people protested in Kunming, China, on Saturday.

They protested against plans to begin producing paraxylene at a refinery.

Paraxylene, or PX, is used in the production of fabrics and plastics.

Some reports placed the crowds at nearly two thousand, but sources say that many of those were watching the protest, not participating.

Over the past couple of years, several different protests against PX production have been successful in their goals of keeping the chemical from being produced in their areas.

Toxic Train Derails in Belgium

Two people were killed and fourteen injured when a train derailed in Belgium.

Early Saturday morning, six the thirteen cars on the train came off the tracks and caught fire.

The fire resulted in multiple explosions, as the train had been carrying toxic, flammable chemicals.

Due to the toxicity of the fumes, three hundred residents were evacuated from nearby.

Residents outside of the evacuation zone were told to stay indoors and keep windows closed, as a precaution.

Plans are to let the fire burn itself out, as that was deemed the safest option, by officials.

Israel Strikes Weapons Shipment in Syria

Israeli airplanes made a surgical air strike in Syria, on Saturday.

Their target was a shipment of Fateh 110 surface to surface missiles.

The missiles were being sent to Hezbollah in Lebanon, across Syria, from Iran.

Israel has repeatedly warned that any weapons being sent to Hezbollah or Hamas would be targets of opportunity.

It was the second time that Israel has had to back their warning.

The strike also served as a warning to Iran, who Israel has repeatedly stated that they will attack if the country continues it's work towards a nuclear weapon.

7 American Members of ISAF Killed in Afghanistan

Seven US members of the ISAF were killed in Afghanistan, on Saturday.

Five of them died when a roadside bomb exploded, in the Maiwand district of Kandahar.

The other two were killed when a member of the Afghan military turned his gun on them.

Over the last week, twenty-one US military personnel have been killed in Afghanistan, as well as three from the UK.

Most of the deaths were the results of three separate aircraft crashes.

In 2013, forty-nine ISAF troops have been killed, with thirty-nine of them being Americans.

US Army: Private First Class Charles P. McClure

Private First Class Charles P. McClure, twenty-one of Stratford, Oklahoma, died on May 2.

He was injured in a vehicle accident at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.

It was his first deployment.

McClure was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson, Colorado.

US Army: Specialist Trinidad Santiago Jr.

Specialist Trinidad Santiago Jr., twenty-five of San Diego, California, died on May 2.

He was injured in a vehicle accident at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.

Santiago was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson, Colorado.

His decorations included: Joint Service Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and NATO Medal.

US Army: Staff Sergeant Michael H. Simpson

Staff Sergeant Michael H. Simpson, thirty of San Antonio, Texas, died on May 1 from wounds sustained.

Simpson's unit was attacked on April 27th, in Arian, Afghanistan. and he was injured by an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Among his completed courses were: Special Forces Qualification Course, Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Combat Life Savers Course; Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Course; Hazmat Driver Instructor's Course, Joint Armorers Training Course, and Basic Airborne Course.

His awards included: Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal with three oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 2 device, Army Service Ribbon, Special Forces Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and a posthumous Purple Heart.
