Blue to Gold: ARMY Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jose L Montenegro Jr

ARMY Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jose L Montenegro Jr 31, of San Juan, TX, died Sept. 5, in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Montenegro originally joined the U.S. Army in 2001 as an enlisted infantryman, according to a Fort Bragg news release.

"He loved his country and was proud to do what was asked of him, without question, without hesitation," said U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jason England, Troop F, 1-17 Air Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Montenegro, earned OH-58D Kiowa Warrior aviator qualification in 2008, and attended the Warrant Officer Basic Course in 2009. He was then assigned to Fort Bragg. This was Montenegro's third deployment - previously he deployed to Iraq in 2004 and Afghanistan in 2010.

"He would not have us mourn for him," said England in a memorial ceremony on Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Sept. 7. "He died on the field of battle with his boots on and a rifle in his hand. He has gone to his rest, to the open arms of a loving Savior."

Montenegro's awards include the Air Medal with Valor 4th device, Air Medal 2nd device, Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with "V" device, Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 3rd device, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Action Badge and the Army Aviator Badge.

He is survived by his mother, Reyna Torres, and sister, Liliana Montenegro.

Go Daddy Taken Down, Thousands of Sites Go With It

A DDoS attack took down web host GoDaddy multiple times on Monday.

The attack overwhelmed the register's servers causing them to go offline.

When they went down thousands to millions of sites went offline as well.

Most of the sites are owned by small businesses, blogs, or sites like us.

That GoDaddy went down goes to show that any company, no matter the size, can be taken out by hackers.

Taliban Targeting Harry

Prince Harry has just started another deployment to Afghanistan, which is set to last four months.

This time around Harry will be the gunner/copilot of an Apache helicopter.

The Taliban is excited about his visit, as they see it as a chance to capture or kill him.

An unspecified reward or bounty has been put on his head, and will be given to the whoever can bring him in, dead or alive.

Such a threat is what kept him from touring in Iraq in 2007, as a tank commander.

Later in 2008 he secretly served as a forward air controller, in Afghanistan, until his cover was blown by German and Australian press.

It is unclear why the British have been so open with his service this time.

Pakistani Flooding Kills 78

Floods in Pakistan have killed at least seventy-eight people and injured sixty-eight more.

Nearly two thousand homes have been destroyed with an estimated five thousand more damaged.

Heavy rains are supposed to continue for at least the next two days.

The Pakistani military has been called out to help with adding support to dams.

For Pakistan the floods are a yearly thing, this could actually end up being one of the less lethal years.

Jake Eberts; Dead at 71

Jake Eberts died at the age of seventy-one in Montreal, after complications from eye cancer.

He is remembered as an "extrordinary man" and "a real gentleman" by friends and former coworkers.

Sadly, many whilst familiar with his works, may not even have known his name.

Several of the films he worked on were Oscar winners and crowd favorites.

Eberts was the producer and or executive producer for films like Chariots of Fire, Ghandi, Dances With Wolves, Driving Miss Daisy, Chicken Run, A River Runs Through It, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and The Name of The Rose.

Nature documentaries were also something he believed in, and he worked heavily to get March of The Penguins made.

Canada Revoking 3,100 Citizenships

Canada has announced that it is revoking 3,100 citizenships.

According to the government all of them obtained their status through fraudulent means.

Most of them were accomplished by applicants paying someone to prove they were living in Canada, whilst they actually lived elsewhere.

Eight thousand more are being investigated for possible fraud.

To be eligible to apply for citizenship, a person must live in Canada for three of four years, before they apply, and two out of five to keep it.

Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said that, "Canadian citizenship is not for sale. We will not stand idly by and allow people to lie and cheat their way into Canadian citizenship".

With an average of a quarter million people immigrating to Canada, yearly, the country has one of the highest per capita rates in the world.

Turkish Forces Kill 51 PKK Members

Since last Wednesday Turkey claims to have killed fifty-one members of the PKK.

Turkey says that twenty-five were killed in air strikes in Northern Iraq.

Fourteen areas were hit by the air strikes, including thirty-two living areas, three warehouses, and an anti aircraft gun.

Twenty-six were counted dead in the Semdinli district of the Hakkari province, when they engaged Turkish military forces.

Two Turkish soldiers were killed in the action there.

The PKK is a separatist group that wishes to form Kurdistan, an area that would take parts of Turkey, Iran, and Iraq.

They are listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU.

Youcef Nadarkhani Reportedly Freed

According to the US Commission of International Religious Freedom Youcef Nadarkhani has finally been set free.

No comment about his release has been made by Iran, and his whereabouts are not known.

The Iranian pastor had been arrested in October 2009 for refusing to renounce his Christian faith.

Nadarkhani had been born Muslim, but converted as a teenager.

Iranian officials later changed the charges, when they came under attack by the international community.

Since it all began he has become a face for religious equality and justice throughout the world.

Police and Protesters Clash Killing One in India

At least one person is dead after police in India opened fire on protesters in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Government officials say that the protesters had begun to become violent when asked to disperse.

After stones, sticks, and other objects were thrown at police, injuring five of their number, they fired a volley.

Over two thousand people had been protesting at the Kudankulam Atomic Power Project.

Construction of the plant has been regularly delayed by the protests, and the government is trying to end that.

Officer Killed in Ongoing Michigan Standoff

On Sunday night police in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan responded to a shots fired call.

Five officers entered the home and were fired upon by an unidentified male.

Officer Patrick O'Rourke, thirty-nine, was hit in the neck and died.

Two of the other officers suffered minor wounds.

Neighbors were evacuated quickly after the exchange with police occurred.

SWAT and police helicopters are present, but any attempt to approach the house, by officers or robots, has been responded to by gunfire.

The stand off is still going at the time of this article.
