51 Killed in Tripoli by Homemade Alcohol

Health officials in Tripoli are blaming alcohol poisoning for the deaths of fifty-one people, since Saturday.

At least three hundred and twenty-seven people are sick from it as well.

All of them are believed to have consumed homemade alcohol, form the same source.

Alcohol is illegal in Libya, leaving the black market, smuggling, or homemade liquor the only sources.

Suicide Bomber in Dibis Targets Kurdish Girls School

A suicide bomber struck the Iraqi city of Dibis, on Monday.

Three people were killed and over a hundred were wounded.

The explosion struck outside of a school for Kurdish girls, and causes severe damage to the building.

Most of the wounded were students inside the school, hurt by broken glass and shrapnel.

Dibis is in the part of Iraq which the national government and the autonomous region of Kurdistan are arguing over.

2 US Soldiers Killed in Afghan Betrayal Shooting

Two US soldiers and two Afghan troops were killed in Wardak province, Afghanistan.

Ten more US soldiers were wounded and an unreleased number of Afghans were as well.

Monday's shooting was carried out by a member of the Afghan security forces.

Over sixty allied soldiers were killed by Afghan security forces, who betrayed them, during 2012.

The shooting only enhanced tensions between Afghan forces and the allies aiding them in the security of their country.

US officials have not yet released information about the two casualties. As soon as we have that information we will post memorials to them.

Proposed Texas Law Mandates Labels On Firearms

A bill proposed in the Texas State House of Representatives would force all new firearms sold or transferred in or into the State of Texas to come with warning labels.

According to HB 1747, the labels would contain the maximum range and maximum effective range for new firearms and ammunition imported into the state or sold within the state.

Warning labels have become commonplace in our country, to the point that they often times state overtly obvious facts that should be determined by common sense.

For example, eggs now contain allergy warnings that they contain eggs. This warning appears on nutritional labels, also mandated on eggs.

In contrast, these warning labels on firearms do not infringe upon any Second Amendment protection. What they will do is provide responsible firearms owners with readily available facts they should use.

The proposed warning labels would include the maximum distance a bullet would travel should the shooter miss the intended target. This information is important in attempting to limit collateral damage and accidental or negligent injury to non-targets. That makes sense.

Furthermore, the labels could help combat an irresponsible and dangerous practice some engage in:  celebratory fire. The simple concept so many fail to recognize is that the laws of gravity apply to bullets. What goes up must eventually come down. With celebratory fire, those rounds can come down harming or killing innocents.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT   relating to a packaging notice for new firearms and firearm ammunition; imposing a criminal penalty. 

       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 

       SECTION 1.  Title 6, Business & Commerce Code, is amended by adding Chapter 205 to read as follows: 

CHAPTER 205. FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
 
       Sec. 205.001.  DEFINITIONS.  In this chapter: 

             (1)  "Firearm" has the meaning assigned by Section 46.01, Penal Code. 

             (2)  "Package" means a box or container holding a good or product for sale or sold to an end user.
 
       Sec. 205.002.  APPLICABILITY. This chapter applies only to a firearm or ammunition for a firearm manufactured on or after September 1, 2014.
 
       Sec. 205.003.  MANUFACTURER NOTICE: NEW FIREARM.  A manufacturer of a firearm may not sell in this state, or ship into this state for sale or resale or in connection with a sale, a new firearm unless the firearm's package includes, in bold font equal to or greater in size than the surrounding text, a notice disclosing the maximum distance a projectile travels when fired from the firearm.

       Sec. 205.004.  MANUFACTURER NOTICE: FIREARM AMMUNITION. A manufacturer of firearm ammunition may not sell in this state, or ship into this state for sale or resale or in connection with a 

sale, ammunition for a firearm unless the ammunition's package includes, in bold font equal to or
greater in size than the surrounding text, a notice disclosing the maximum distance a projectile from the ammunition travels when fired from a firearm.

 
       Sec. 205.005.  CRIMINAL PENALTY.   

        (a)  A person who violates this chapter commits an offense. 

       (b)  An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $250.
 
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.

This is the sort of information responsible, law abiding citizens can use. The only argument against this bill concerns the increased costs to manufacturers and dealers.

However, most people understand that eggs do contain egg.

Ohio National Guard: Specialist Cody D. Suggs

Ohio National Guard Specialist Cody D. Suggs, twenty-two, of West Alexandria, Ohio died on March 7.

Suggs died of a noncombat related injury, at Kandahar Airfield, in Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 1487th Transportation Company 371st Sustainment Brigade.

His unit arrived in Afghanistan, in January.

I70 Closures in Colorado

Interstate 70, through Colorado, is having some issues, this weekend.

From Aurora, to the Kansas border it was closed Saturday afternoon, due to blowing snow.

Officials were unsure when it would be reopened.

To the west of Denver, eastbound I70 was temporarily closed due to a twelve vehicle pileup, near Lookout Mountain.

Only minor injuries occurred, and the closure caused slowing on westbound.

That has since been cleared, and both directions are now moving regularly again.

Tunnels through the mountains of Colorado are being metered, slowing traffic near them, but no closures are currently reported.

The Growing Conflict Between Canada and Mexico in Sports

Baseball became the latest medium for violence between Canada and Mexico, on Saturday.

A bench clearing, punches thrown and connected fight occurred in the ninth inning of a game between the two countries.

Organizers of the The World Baseball Classic said no one would be disciplined over the brawl.

The two countries have a growing sports rivalry, which is increasingly physical.

Previously, it's been mostly contained to soccer games, with both men's and women's games having confrontations.

Officials, especially in Canada, are becoming increasingly worried by this, as they see it hurting their national image.

Mexico, on the other hand, appears to be desiring of more physical conflicts.

It will be up to sports leagues how long they will allow this to go on.

7 Kidnapped From Nigeria Killed

Italy and Greece have confirmed that their citizens, who were kidnapped in Nigeria last month, have been killed.

After their confirmation, Briton deemed it likely that their citizen had been killed as well.

Lebanon, who had four citizens among the kidnapped, has made no comment.

The hostage takers had announce the killings on Saturday, but no one could confirm til Sunday.

According to the kidnappers, they killed them because British and Nigerian forces were trying to free them.

However, according to the governments no rescue attempts had been made.

It's time to spring forward.

Daylight savings time begins on Sunday.

Once it hits 02:00, it's actually 03:00.

Remember to change any non automatic clocks, when you go to bed.

It's also a good time to change batteries in smoke detectors or other battery powered emergency warning devices.

Police on Strike in Egypt

Egyptian police are tired of being used against protesters.

Police had been put in the situation of defending the government from the protesters, and both sides had taken casualties and fatalities.

Towards this police in ten, of the twenty-nine provinces, have gone on strike.

In some cases they've not only closed their stations, but left the cities as well.

The government is working on replacing the police with military forces.
