Italy Finally Has a Government

Letta

After two months of negotiating, Italy finally has a government again.

Enrico Letta, a center left politician, was finally able to unite enough of parliament to gain a majority and become prime minister.

As part of his new government he has named Angelino Alfano, a key ally of the former prime minister, as his deputy prime minister.

The new government will be sworn in on Sunday, and fully confirmed on Monday.

US Army: 1st Lieutenant Robert J. Hess

1st Lieutenant Robert J. Hess, twenty-six of Fairfax, Virginia, died on April 23, in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained.

It was his first tour of Afghanistan.

Hess had been assigned to the 2nd Aviation Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York.

Among his completed courses were: Aviation Officer Basic Course, Blackhawk Aviation Officer Qualification Course, Blackhawk M-Model Aviator Qualification Course; and Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Course.

His awards include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Army Aviator Badge.

US Army: Captain Aaron R. Blanchard

Captain Aaron R. Blanchard, thirty-two of Selah, Washington, died on April 23, in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained.

Blacnchard served two tours in Iraq, with the United States Marine Corps, and was on his first tour of Afghanistan, with the Army.

He was assigned to the 2nd Aviation Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York.

Among his completed courses were: Marine Combat Training, Aviation Machinist Mate Courses, Apache Aviator Qualification Course; Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Course; Aviation Officer Basic Course, USMC ROTC, and Army ROTC.

His awards include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Navy Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, four Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and two Rifle Expert Badges.

Hamzat Called to Urgent Care in Aurora

Hazmat crews were called to the Urgent Care at 3350 Peoria Street, in Aurora, Colorado, Friday morning.

An unidentified person walked in, came into contact with multiple members of the staff, and then announced that they had been exposed to an unknown chemical.

A mass decontamination was ordered, as a precaution.

The patient was eventually taken to a medical center for further care.

11 Hurt in Train vs Bus Crash in Pennsylvania

Eleven people were injured, two seriously, when a bus was struck by a freight train, Friday morning.

Just after 08:00 EDT the bus stopped across train tracks near Evans City, Pennsylvania.

The train was unable to stop in time and pushed the bus about twenty feet.

Aboard the bus were elderly and developmentally disabled passengers.

Officials are investigating why the bus stopped on the tracks.

The driver was injured in the crash.

38 Killed in Psychiatric Hospital Fire Near Moscow

Thirty-eight people were killed when a fire tore through a psychiatric hospital in Ramensky, Russia.

Flames broke out early Friday morning, consuming the building.

Two staff members and thirty-six patients died in the flames.

Only one staff member and two patients escaped the blaze.

Most of the patients were sedated for the night, and likely never even knew that there was a fire.

The nearest fire station is about thirty miles away, and their arrival was delayed as the ferry across the river only runs in the summer.

Obama and Cameron State Syria Used Chemical Weapons

President Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron have both now asserted that Syria did in fact use chemical weapons against the opposition.

Both leaders have previously warned that such a use, would be a "red line" which could mean intervention.

Earlier in the week, Israel stated that they had proof of the use of chemical weapons, by the regime, in the Syrian civil war.

It is believed that the regime's forces used sarin nerve gas in a limited basis.

The UN stated that there was not enough evidence, for it to be considered proof.

They are asking Syria to grant them access, to test for any chemical agents, but Syrian is unlikely to allow such access.

Israeli Forces Defends Jewish Settlement From Palestinian Marchers

Around five hundred Palestinians formed up outside of Deir Jareer, Friday morning.

Led by youths throwing stones they marched on a nearby Jewish settlement.

They were met by Israeli troops there to protect the settlers from the oncoming group.

When the marchers refused to stop, Israeli soldiers fired tear gas into their ranks, but that only slowed them.

Several volleys of tear gas did not stop the march, but a volley of rubber bullets did, and the marchers retreated to their village.

Israeli medics then went out and treated those who had been over come by the gas or struck by the rubber bullets.

50 Survivors Found in Dhaka Collapsed Building

Three pockets of survivors were found, on Friday, in Dhaka's collapsed building.

Around fifty people are contained in the three areas.

Water, food, and oxygen have been pushed down to them, but they are still well trapped under rubble.

Workers are hoping to have them all rescued sometime Saturday.

At least three hundred and seven people died when the eight story building collapsed.

Around three thousand people were inside it when it came down.

Five garment factories, a market, and other businesses were housed inside of the structure.

South Korea to Abandon Kaesong

South Korea has announced that it will remove the remaining workers at the Kaesong industrial complex.

The decision was made after the North refused to begin talks to end the current stand off, between the two countries.

Most of the workers had left or been removed over the past few weeks, but one hundred and seventy were present at the time of the announcement.

Kaesong, is a joint effort between the two countries, and it had been one of the last remaining conduits of negotiation.
