12 Killed in Pre Election Attacks in Pakistan

A series of bombings aimed at politicians and rallies killed twelve, in Pakistan.

Around one hundred people were injured in the five explosions.

All of the blasts targeted political rallies, candidate's offices, or the candidates themselves.

 The attacks came as Pakistan readies for elections on May 11.

A spokesman for the Taliban was quick to claim the attacks as theirs.

4 More Rescued From Collapsed Building in Dhaka

Rescue efforts continue at the site of the building collapse in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Four more people were rescued, on Sunday, and searchers are working on freeing more survivors that have been found.

Efforts were hampered for a time when a fire broke out, caused by sparks from cutting tools, but crews were able to put it out.

Three hundred and seventy-seven bodies have been found, out of the more than three thousand who were inside the building, when it came crashing down on Wednesday. Hundreds more are still missing, unfortunately hopes for most of them are slim. Five garment factories, a market, and other businesses were housed inside of the structure.

The owner of the factory was arrested, on Sunday, when he tried to cross the border into India. He is facing charges of faulty construction and causing unlawful death.

LivingSocial Hacked

LivingSocial has announced that they were hacked.

As many as fifty million users' personal information may have been breached.

Email addresses, names, and passwords may have been compromised in the attack.

The company states that credit card information was not accessed.

Because of the hacking, all users should change the password as quickly as possible.

They should also ignore any emails from the company asking for personal or account information.

Rebel Forces Attack Sudan on 2 Fronts

Rebels out of Darfur launched a massive attack on the Sudanese city of Um Rawaba.

The Justice and Equality Movement's troops held the city for a short while, but were pushed out by the government's solders.

It is the closest that rebel forces have come to the capital of Khartoum, since 2008, when they almost seized the city.

Another rebel group, Sudan People's Liberation Movement North attacked at the same time, seizing four villages east of the key city of Kadugli.

SPLM-North and the government had been holding peace talks, since Wednesday.

It is unclear what effect Saturday's moves will have on the talks.

4 Arrested Over Building Collapse in Dhaka

Four people were arrested on Saturday, over the building collapse in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Two were factory bosses and two were engineers who built the building.

A warrant has been issued for the owner of the building, but he has evaded capture.

Over three thousand people were in the building when it came falling down.

Three hundred and fifty-two bodies have been found with over nine hundred still missing.

Five garment factories, a market, and other businesses were housed inside of the structure.

4 ISAF Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

Four airmen in the ISAF died, on Saturday, when their aircraft crashed in southern Afghanistan.

NATO is not being more specific about the location of the crash, the cause, or the nationalities of the victims, at this time.

They were later revealed to all be Americans.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and there are no reports of enemy activity in the area, at the time.

Captain Reid K. Nishizuka, Captain Brandon L. Cyr, Staff Sergeant Daniel N. Fannin, and Staff Sergeant Richard A. Dickson were the four killed in the crash.

Chinese Bird Flu Continues to Spread

Chinese bird flu continues to spread, as the province of Hunan reports it's first case of the disease.

Twenty-three people have died from the H7N9 strain, since it first was detected in March. One hundred and eleven people have fallen ill to it, with treatment working on most.

On Wednesday, a case was reported in Taiwan, the first case outside of China. It is believed to now be spreading person to person, though at a very limited level.

To make matters worse, scientists are saying that the strain is now mutating, making itself unaffected by antivirals. If the mutations continue H7N9 could very well become something that there is no known cure for.

Italy Finally Has a Government

Letta

After two months of negotiating, Italy finally has a government again.

Enrico Letta, a center left politician, was finally able to unite enough of parliament to gain a majority and become prime minister.

As part of his new government he has named Angelino Alfano, a key ally of the former prime minister, as his deputy prime minister.

The new government will be sworn in on Sunday, and fully confirmed on Monday.

US Army: 1st Lieutenant Robert J. Hess

1st Lieutenant Robert J. Hess, twenty-six of Fairfax, Virginia, died on April 23, in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained.

It was his first tour of Afghanistan.

Hess had been assigned to the 2nd Aviation Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York.

Among his completed courses were: Aviation Officer Basic Course, Blackhawk Aviation Officer Qualification Course, Blackhawk M-Model Aviator Qualification Course; and Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Course.

His awards include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Army Aviator Badge.

US Army: Captain Aaron R. Blanchard

Captain Aaron R. Blanchard, thirty-two of Selah, Washington, died on April 23, in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained.

Blacnchard served two tours in Iraq, with the United States Marine Corps, and was on his first tour of Afghanistan, with the Army.

He was assigned to the 2nd Aviation Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York.

Among his completed courses were: Marine Combat Training, Aviation Machinist Mate Courses, Apache Aviator Qualification Course; Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Course; Aviation Officer Basic Course, USMC ROTC, and Army ROTC.

His awards include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Navy Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, four Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and two Rifle Expert Badges.
