Anti Government Protests Continue in Turkey

Seas of smoke waft through the streets of Turkish cities.

For days Turks have taken to the streets in protest against the government.

Clashes with the police have occurred, with fires being lit and smoke bombs and rocks being thrown by protesters, while police fire water cannons, tear gas, and pepper spray at the crowds.

Nearly two thousand arrests have been made, a thousand have been injured, and two people have been killed.

But that did not stop Turks from taking to the streets, once again, on Sunday.

Thousands protest in each of the major cities, while hundreds protest in smaller cities and towns.

Protesters in Istanbul are now vowing to not leave Taksim Square until the government steps down.

Iraqi Security Stops Planned Chemical Attack

Iraqi officials have arrested five men who they say were planning chemical attacks.

The men are believed to be part of Al Qaeda's Iraqi wing, known as the "Islamic State of Iraq".

Three home laboratories were raided and partially made mustard and sarin gas were found.

Security forces also found remote controlled helicopters, that they believe the men were planning on using to distribute the chemicals once they were weapon ready.

MERS Kills 3 More in Saudi Arabia

Three more people have died from MERS, in Saudi Arabia.

Twenty-four Saudis have now died from the disease.

According to WHO, thirty-three people have died around the world, from MERS.

Fifty-four people have been sickened by it, with thirty-eight of those being in Saudi Arabia.

Scientists say that MERS is related to SARS, which killed over eight hundred, in 2003.

Both are respiratory diseases that can be quite deadly, with no known cure.

Syrian Rebels Attack Hezbollah in Lebanon

The Syrian civil war spread further into Lebanon, on Sunday.

Syrian rebels attacked Hezbollah positions, inside of Lebanon, in an hours long battle.

On Saturday, the rebels had launched rockets at the Hezbollah positions.

Hezbollah has been aiding the Syrian regime in the civil war and the rebels are striking back.

International worries are that this will further the spread of violence, in the region, and possibly bring Lebanon fully into the war.

6.3 Earthquake Rocks Taiwan

A 6.3 earthquake rocked Taiwan, on Sunday afternoon.

The quake was centered near Jenai, about one hundred and fifty miles south of Taipei.

Two people were killed and at least twenty-one injured, by the quake.

There were no reports of major damage, with objects falling down, but no building collapses.

Rock slides closed several roads, until crews could clear them.

Aftershocks continued throughout the rest of the day, and on into Monday.

21 Rescued After Dragon Boat Sinks in Aurora

Twenty-one people had to be rescued from the Aurora Reservoir, on Saturday.

They had been practicing for Colorado's Dragon Boat Festival, in July, when winds caught the boat and tipped it over.

The boat capsized and began to sink, leaving the entire crew in the cold waters.

Emergency crews rescued all twenty-one and treated several for hypothermia.

Park rangers stated that everyone lived because they were wearing life preservers, however they also noted that none of those aboard knew how to swim.

12 Killed by Severe Storms in US

Twelve people were killed as tornadoes swept through the central US, again.

Nine were killed in Oklahoma and three in Missouri.

Four of those in Oklahoma have not yet been identified and the government is asking for the public's help.

Over one hundred people were injured in Oklahoma City alone.

Twisters struck Interstates 35 and 40 during rush hour, causing most of the injuries.

Tornadoes also struck in Illinois and North Dakota.

Flooding swept through the region, threatening many more people than the tornadoes.

Occupy Frankfurt Clashes With Police

About seven thousand people protested against European austerity measures, in Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday.

Things were peaceful until Occupy Frankfurt broke from the main group of protesters and began attacking police officers.

Members of Occupy threw smoke bombs and stones at the police.

As police officers were injured, other officers responded with force, using teargas and batons to break the Occupy ranks.

Dozens of police and protesters were injured and dozens of Occupy's members were arrested.

Hezbollah Sites Struck by Syrian Rockets

For the second time in a week, rockets from Syria struck into Lebanon.

During Saturday, eighteen rockets and mortars struck at Hezbollah locations.

Hezbollah has been aiding the Syrian regime in the civil war and the rebels are striking back.

International worries are that this will further the spread of violence, in the region, and possibly bring Lebanon fully into the war.

US Army: Staff Sergeant Joe A. Nunez-Rodriguez

Staff Sergeant Joe A. Nunez-Rodriguez, twenty-nine of Pasadena, Texas, died on May 30.

His vehicle was struck by an IED in Wardak Province, Afghanistan.

Nunez-Rodriguez was assigned to the 68th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Collins, Colorado.
