Typhoon Utor Kills 2 in the Philippines

Typhoon Utor battered the Philippines on Monday, killing two and leaving forty-four people missing.

Most of the missing are fishermen who did not make it back to land, in time.

Winds over one hundred miles per hour knocked down trees and power lines, eliminating power grids and closing roads.

Some areas are under as much as three feet of water, after the heavy rains fell.

Utor has now left the Philippines and is expected to hit China, on Wednesday.

Colorado Springs Police Looking for Suspect in Double Murder

Police in Colorado Springs have issued a man hunt after a double homicide.

Two people were shot to death, late Saturday night.

Authorities are looking for twenty-two year old Gary Vigil, listing him as a suspect for first degree murder.

Vigil is described as five foot six, one hundred and eighty pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and multiple tattoos on his arms, neck, and chest.

He is listed as armed an extremely dangerous.

2 of 3 Missing From Manitou Springs Found

Police in Manitou Springs, Colorado have reported two of three people, that were missing, to be found.

All three were reported missing after a mudslide and flash floods tore through the area, Friday night, which killed one and injured three others.

An unidentified woman is still missing, after witnesses saw her clinging to a tree.

Six houses were destroyed, thirty damaged, and some businesses suffered damage as well.

The town is still cleaning up the damage, that was left behind.

2 Killed in Texas Plane Crash

A small plane crashed in Ellis County, Texas killing both aboard.

It happened Sunday morning in a field outside of Ennis, after the plane stalled and then clipped a tree.

When the plane crashed, it burst into flames destroying most of the 1975 Beechcraft Bonanza.

Both the FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.

2 Bombings Kill 5 Soldiers in Iraq

Five Iraqi soldiers were killed in two separate bombings, on Sunday.

A roadside bomb struck a convoy near Musayyib, killing three and wounding ten.

In Abu Ghraib, a suicide bomber drove into a military checkpoint, before detonating his explosive filled car.

Two soldiers were killed and nine wounded there.

3 US Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

Three US soldiers were killed in Patkia province, Afghanistan.

They were killed on Sunday, in an attack by militants.

Most of the US forces in Patkia are training the Afghan forces.

One hundred and three NATO troops have been killed in Afghanistan, during 2013.

Seventy-eight of those have been Americans.

Flash Floods in Afghanistan Kill 22

Twenty-two people were killed in flash flooding in Afghanistan.

Dozens more were injured as the waters swept away buildings and cars.

Saturday's flooding also damaged agricultural areas and canals.

Torrential rains, and at times hail, have been plaguing the region.

Flooding has caused sixty deaths, so far in August.

9 Die From Alcohol Poisoning in Pakistan

Nine people have died and five others are hospitalized after drinking homemade liquor, Saturday night.

The poisonous alcohol struck in Karachi, Pakistan.

Two people have been arrested for selling the liquor.

Alcohol poisoning is common in Pakistan, due to the religious intolerance of it.

Religious Violence in Sri Lanka Injures 12

Twelve people, including two police officers, were injured in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Saturday.

A group of Buddhists entered a Muslim part of town and attacked a mosque, during evening prayers.

Muslims took to the streets, to defend their neighborhood, and were joined by police sent to enforce peace.

The mosque had only been built a month ago, after Buddhists forced the closure of another one.

According to the Sri Lanka Muslim Council, at least twenty mosques have been attacked, during 2013.

Interstate 25 in Colorado Shut Down for Hours After Fatal Accident

A fatal accident on Interstate 25 caused major back ups, in Colorado, on Friday.

Authorities say that a full cement truck had a tire go flat as it was driving north on the freeway.

When the tire when flat, the load shifted, overturning the truck, and killing the driver.

Northbound traffic was shut down until late Friday as crews worked to clean up the fuel and concrete spill.

Traffic was detoured from County Line Road, exit 163, all the way to Castle Rock, via Highway 83, causing hours of delay as hundreds of vehicles packed onto the little country highway.

Southbound traffic was partially closed, for a short time, but had extremely slow times, as people all but stopped to see what was going on.
