Alberta School Bus Crash Injures 10

A school bus and a pickup truck collided east of Crossfield, Alberta, on Friday morning.

The bus driver and nine school children were injured, in the accident.

Three of the children, including one who was airlifted, are in critical condition.

Authorities praised witnesses who not only called 911, but stopped to comfort the children, while help was on the way.

An investigation of the crash is underway.

Juarez Candy Factory Explosion Kills 2

Two people were killed when an explosion ripped through a candy factory in Juarez, Mexico.

Thirty-three more were injured, six of whom are in critical condition, and one person is still missing.

Three hundred people were at work in the factory, at the time of the explosion.

The explosion occurred on the second floor and caused a section of the floor to collapse onto the lower level.

It is believed that the explosion was caused by a steam boiler.

40 Killed in Syria Car Bombing

Forty people were killed when a car struck in Syria, on Friday.

Dozens more were injured in the attack.

The blast struck a mosque in Suq Wadi Barada, during prayers.

Parts of the mosque were knocked down, by the force of the blast.

No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

The government and rebel forces are blaming each other for the attack.

Bombings Kill 16 in Iraq

Ten bombings killed sixteen people, in Iraq, on Friday.

All of those killed were Shiites.

In Baghdad, a roadside bomb killed four people.

Six separate roadside bombs killed four people in Baquba.

One person was killed by a car bomb, in Buhriz.

The worst attack happened in Yousufiya, where two road side bombs struck a busy market, killing seven.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, however suspicion is on Al Qaeda and other Sunni groups.

Over seven thousand people have been killed in terrorist attacks, during 2013.

Floods Kill 10 in India

Flooding in Odisha province, India has killed ten people.

Another five people are missing as hundreds of thousands have been displaced.

Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur districts have been hit the hardest.

Train service, through the area, has been cancelled as railways are underwater.

It is unclear when the rains will stop, some weather forecasts call for them to last several days more.

7.3 Earthquake Rocks Japan and Causes Small Tsunami

Japan was woken up, Saturday morning, by a 7.1 earthquake, off the east coast.

No injuries were reported, however several buildings did collapse from the shaking.

The quake created a small tsunami, of about one foot, which did reach Japan.

It is not expected to reach anywhere else in the Pacific.

1 Killed in Florida Train Derailment

One person was killed when a train derailed in Florida.

It happened Thursday morning, near Sanford.

The train was carrying gravel to a construction site when it became unsteady and four of it's cars tipped over.

A spotter for the train was caught under one of the cars and killed.

The accident is under investigation.

2 US Citizens Kidnapped by Pirates Off Nigeria

The C-Retriever

Two Americans have been kidnapped off the coast of Nigeria, by pirates.

Wednesday's attack, was confirmed on Thursday by the US government.

Pirates attacked the C-Retriever, an oil platform supply boat out of Louisiana, and took the ship's captain and chief engineer with them.

Their identities have not been released.

No information was released about the rest of the crew, or the C-Retriever's condition.

This was the forty-first pirate attack in the Gulf of Guinea, in 2013.

In those attacks, one hundred and thirty-two people have been taken hostage.

Improvised Explosive Device Found in Denver Yard

An improvised explosive device was found in a yard, in Denver.

Wednesday morning's discovery was made in the Park Hill area.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, until a bomb squad safely detonated the device.

 Police did release any information about the device, just saying that it appeared home made.

They are conducting a full investigation, trying to determine who placed it there and why.

Fighter Jet Goes Down in Switzerland

A Swiss F/A 18 went down near Alpnachstad, in bad weather, on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash has since been spotted, with little hope that the crew of two survived.

It is believed that the plane hit a cliff over Lake Alpnach.

A full investigation is planned, to determine what was the cause of the crash.

As a precaution, Switzerland has grounded all of it's F/A 18s.
