2 US Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

Two US soldiers were killed in Kapisa province, Afghanistan, on Wednesday.

Officials say that two men wearing Afghan National Security Forces uniforms opened fire on NATO troops.

NATO forces then killed their attackers.

The US Soldiers were killed in the incident, their identities have not yet been released.

No word was released if there were other NATO troops injured.

A spokesman for the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

US Army: Private First Class Joshua A. Gray

Private First Class Joshua A. Gray, twenty-one of Van Lear, Kentucky, died on February 10.

He was killed at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.

It was his first tour of duty, overseas.

Gray was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York.

His decorations include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, NATO Medal, Overseas Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Expert Marksmanship Badge.

Shirley Temple, Dead at 85

Shirley Temple, one of America's sweethearts, died at the age of eighty-five, on Monday, February 10.

Born on April 23, 1928, Shirley Temple began dancing at the age of three and by the end of the year she was acting as well.

It was that combination of dancing and acting, along with her golden curls, that she would be most remembered for.

At the age of six, she became the youngest Oscar winner, in history.

During World War II, she traveled the US and Canada raising money for troops.

She continued to act until she was twenty-one when she retired from the career, having made fourteen short films and forty-three full length.

In 1967, she stepped back into a public life, running as a Republican nominee for Congress, but lost.

Then, in 1969, President Nixon appointed her as a US Representative to the United Nations.

Temple dealt with breast cancer and a mastectomy, in 1972, and became one of the first celebrities to openly discuss breast cancer.

For a year and a half President Ford appointed her as the US Ambassador to Ghana, in 1974, followed by a stint as Chief of Protocol, in 1976.

Under George H. W. Bush she served three years as the Ambassador to Czechoslovakia.

Georgia Under State of Emergency as Latest Winter Storm Moves In

The southern United States is once again dealing with a major winter storm.

It already struck through Texas, killing three people.

Now it is heading for the south east, where parts of the country were completely shut down by the last storm.

Freezing rain, as much as an inch of ice, and several inches of snow are expected to cover the areas in the storm's path.

Much of Georgia has already been placed under a state of emergency, and much of the state's schools were closed, on Tuesday, as a precaution.

After dealing with the south, the storm is expected to shift north, along the coast, and head for New England.

1 Hospitalized, 1 Missing After Gas Fire in Pennsylvania

A natural gas well exploded in southwestern Pennsylvania, early Tuesday morning.

The explosion sent one worker to the hospital, while another worker is still missing.

Extreme heat from the blaze has kept emergency crews from getting close to the well.

A half mile perimeter has been set up, around the scene, by the Pennsylvania State Police, while experts are called in.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the explosion.

Honduras Suspends 8 of 10 US Consuls in Illegal Papers Investigation

Eight of the ten Honduran consuls in the US have been suspended.

Honduras announced the suspensions, on Tuesday.

The Honduran government is investigating if the consuls were selling illegal identity papers.

It is believed that the consuls were selling unauthorized consular IDs.

The consuls in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, and New York have been closed, while San Fransisco and Washington DC remain open.

77 Killed in Plane Crash in Algeria

Seventy-seven people were killed when their plane crashed in north eastern Algeria, on Tuesday.

One survivor has been found and the search is on for twenty-five people that are missing.

The Hercules C130 was carrying soldiers and their families to Constantine, when it went down near Oum el Bouaghi.

Officials are blaming poor weather conditions for bringing the plane down.

Oklahoma State Player Pushes Texas Tech Fan

A promising college basketball made a really dumb mistake, on Saturday night.

Marcus Smart, of Oklahoma State, went into the stands and pushed a Texas Tech fan, during a game.

He had fallen after attempting to block a dunk, by a Texas Tech player, and words were exchanged between him and the fan, before he pushed him.

According to Smart, the man used a racial slur against him, and he lost his cool.

Smart was given a technical foul, but was not ejected from the game, however his coaches did have him sit out the remainder.

NCAA officials could punish him with anything from a reprimand to suspension, for his actions.

They are also investigating the fan's role, in the confrontation, as other players have made complaints against him in the past.

However, no matter what the fan did, it does not excuse Smart for his actions.

Denver Police Investigating Robbery

Around 06:00 MST Sunday morning, Denver Police received a call about a robbery.

It took place at the 7 Eleven, at 2790 S Wadsworth Boulevard.

According to police, four or five men came into the store and held it up, with a gun.

All of the men were dressed in dark clothing.

Church Shooting Leaves 2 Dead in Eastern Russia

A man opened fired in a Russian Orthodox church in Yuznho, Russia, Sunday afternoon.

The shooting, which took place on the eastern island of Sakhalin, left two dead and six wounded.

All of the injured are expected to recover from their wounds.

Police were able to arrest the shooter and he is being questioned by psychiatrists.

At this time, his motive is unknown.
