Twinkies Return Set

It's being called "the sweetest comeback in the history of ever".

Twinkies are on their way back.

They will return to store shelves on July 15.

Consumers can be relieved that their price has not changed in their absence, and a box of ten will still cost four dollars.

Tall Starbucks Price Raised

Beginning Tuesday, a tall drink at Starbucks will cost you more.

Tall sized drinks will increase in price about one percent.

As prices vary by city, some areas could see as much as ten cent increase per drink.

However, the increase does not affect venti, grande, or trenta sizes, nor does it affect frappuccinos.

According to the company, the price increase reflects the increase in costs that they are paying.

East Peak Fire 50% Contained

Firefighting efforts have been successful in getting the East Peak Fire to fifty percent containment.

The fire, which began on Wednesday, has burnt more than thirteen thousand five hundred acres, in Colorado.

Initially it had forced evacuations, but most of those were rescinded on Sunday and Monday.

Thirteen buildings, including nine homes were lost to the flames.

Colorado National Guard Joins Fight Against West Fork Complex Fire

The Colorado National Guard has now joined the fight against the West Fork Complex Fire.

They bring the total to more than thirteen hundred firefighters backed by at least nineteen aircraft.

Three fires are contained within the complex, which is now over eighty thousand acres.

Their growth has been pushed by winds, which officials hope will fade away over Tuesday.

The entire town of South Fork, Colorado remains evacuated due to the threat posed, as well as several camp grounds.

Worries are that Creede and other towns may also have to be evacuated.

At this point there is zero containment and authorities admit that some of the areas might not be fully extinguished for months.

LAPD Detectives Ambushed Outside Police Station

Two Los Angeles Police detectives were ambushed outside of the Wiltshire Division station, on Tuesday morning.

The detectives were returning to the station when their vehicle was fired upon.

They returned fire and the suspects fled.

Both officers received minor injuries, were treated for them, and released.

Immediately after the incident, police began a man hunt through Los Angeles, shutting down streets in the area.

The search has continued to be narrowed, but is still on going.

US Army Cutting 12 Brigades

The US Army released plans to lower current strength from forty-five brigades, down to thirty-three.

Part of their goal is decrease the size of the Army by eighty thousand.

Two of the brigades to be eliminated are from Germany, while the other ten are from eight US states.

Brigades will be cut from Fort Bliss in Texas, Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Campbell in Kentucky, Fort Carson in Colorado, Fort Drum in New York, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Knox in Kentucky, Fort Riley in Kansas, Fort Stewart in Georgia, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.

Troops, from the cut brigades, will be transferred to other brigades replacing soldiers whose time of service has ended.

The cuts will have clear economic effects on some of the areas, especially smaller bases like Fort Knox, which is home to only one brigade.

Supreme Court Allows States to Change Their Own Voting Laws

The Supreme Court struck down part of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, on Tuesday.

With a vote of five to four, they ended Section 4b of the act.

The decision stated that 4b was outdated and violated state's sovereignty.

Section 4b required that the federal government approve any change to voting laws, in nine states.

Those states will now be allowed to edit their own voting laws, just as the other forty-one always were able to do.

Opponents of the decision say that 4b is still necessary as those states will now try to block minorities from voting.

Supporters of the decision argue that any such violations are unlikely, and will still be watched for by the US Justice Department.

UN Sets July 1 Takeover Date for Mali

July 1 will be the date when the UN officially takes over peace keeping operations in Mali.

They will take over from a mixed group of international troops, mostly from France and Chad.

Those troops will stay and become part of the UN force.

The full UN force is to be deployed by the end of 2013, and be twelve thousand and six hundred strong.

That will make it the third largest peace keeping force, in the world.

Taliban Disguised as ISAF Soldiers Attack Secure Zone

Eight gunmen, dressed as members of the ISAF, attacked the secure zone of Kabul, on Tuesday.

Their vehicles were also made to look as if they belonged to the ISAF.

One of the vehicles was able to make it past a checkpoint, but the second was unable to and a firefight broke out.

All eight of the militants were killed, as were three members of the Afghan security forces.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

19 Killed in Indian Rescue Helicopter Crash

Nineteen people were killed when the helicopter they were in crashed near Gaurikund, India.

Only eight bodies have been found, but officials do not see survival of the crash as likely.

Most of those aboard were military.

The Mi-17 crashed during it's third mission of the day.

It was part of rescue operations in the flood ridden state of Uttarakhand.

An investigation is under way, to determine the cause of the crash, but bad weather is the likely cause.
