Perhaps the greatest and most well known civil rights leader in world history.
King made people pay attention to his message. Not through threats, violence, or throwing money around; but through peaceful protests, mass marches, and the power and eloquence of his speeches.
Because of King's efforts equality between races was greatly helped along, though the road has been far from bumpy.
The day before King said in a speech, "We've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now, because I've been to the mountaintop...And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over, and I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the promised land."
