They met in front of the Federal Security Service headquarters and peacefully protested against the government and their crack downs on freedom of speech.
At least thirty people, specifically the leaders of the protest, were arrested.
Protests have been occurring since December 2011, when Putin won the heavily contested election.
In order to see an end to protests, the government placed fines on anyone who was caught protesting.
While it cut down on the numbers of the protesters, it has in no way ended the protesting.
