They are charged attempting to influence a public servant, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, forgery, conspiracy, official misconduct, unlawful taking of an elk, taking an elk out of season, and using a motor vehicle and an electronic device to communicate in violation of state gaming laws.
The first three charges are felonies, while the rest are misdemeanors.
On January 1, Officers Sam Carter and Brent Curnow killed the locally known elk.
After killing it, they took pictures with the dead elk, and then carried it off in a pickup.
Originally they claimed that it had been injured, so they killed it as the humane thing to do.
However, during the investigation, it came out that they had planned the killing, with plans to take the meat and make a trophy of the head.
