East Peak Fire Chases out Boy Scouts

A group of Boy Scouts escaped the East Peak Fire by mere minutes, on Wednesday, as the blaze swept through the Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch, near Walsenburg, Colorado.

The fire began on Wednesday, right near the camp, and quickly tore through it.

Luckily everyone was able to safely evacuate and no one was injured.

Flames up to one hundred and fifty feet have spread the blaze to over one thousand acres, in twenty-four hours.

Air support and a Type 2 Command Team have been ordered to fight the fire.

Mandatory evacuations have been sent out for the immediate area surrounding the fire.

The town of Walsenburg is now on preevacuation status.
