Russian Police Arrest 50 at Gay Rights Rally

Russian police arrested around forty people, on Saturday for holding a gay rights rally, in St. Petersburg.

Another seven were arrested for assaulting members of the rally.

"Gay propaganda" including rallies was banned by the Russian government.

Anyone who participates in such rallies or in passing on information about them can be arrested and fined.
