100,000 Protest in Egypt Against Morsi

Tens of thousands have massed in Tahrir Square in protest against President Morsi on the anniversary of his being elected.

Thousands more have gathered in front of the presidential palace and in cities across Egypt.

More than one hundred thousand are thought to be protesting, around the country.

According to activists, more than twenty-two million Egyptians have signed a petition demanding a new election.

Muslim Brotherhood buildings have been reinforced in case protests turn violent against the group Morsi is from.

43 Killed in Pakistan Bombings

Three separate incidents left forty-three dead in Pakistan, on Sunday.

A grenade exploded near a mosque in Quetta, and as the crowd ran away from the explosion a suicide bomber blew himself up.

That incident killed twenty-two and injured sixty-five.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a group of Sunni militants, is being blamed for the attack.

Just outside Peshawar, a car bomb exploded as a military convoy passed by.

Seventeen were killed there and dozens more were injured, mostly civilians.

In the North Waziristan tribal area, a roadside bomb hit another convoy, killing four soldiers and injuring twenty.

Both of those attacks are being blamed on the Taliban.

US Army: Sergeant Justin R. Rogers

Sergeant Justin R. Rogers, twenty-five of Barton, New York, died on June 28.

He was killed in a noncombat related incident, which is under investigation.

Rogers was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

His decorations include: two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon.

Horse Meat Back in the US

For the first time in six years the US government is allowing for the slaughter of horses, for their meat.

In 2007, Congress banned the practice, but the ban only lasted til 2011.

Now, Valley Meat Co. in Roswell, New Mexico has gained approval to begin.

They will be processing up to a hundred horses a day, for sale in Japan and Europe.

According to the USDA, four other meat companies have filed for permission, and it will be granted in the first week of July.

Russian Police Arrest 50 at Gay Rights Rally

Russian police arrested around forty people, on Saturday for holding a gay rights rally, in St. Petersburg.

Another seven were arrested for assaulting members of the rally.

"Gay propaganda" including rallies was banned by the Russian government.

Anyone who participates in such rallies or in passing on information about them can be arrested and fined.

Protests Renewed in Istanbul

Thousands of Turks massed in Istanbul, renewing their protests against the government.

The renewed protests were spurred on by Friday's violence, in which a protester was killed.

Saturday's protest remained peaceful, with riot police, backed by water cannons, blocking the crowd's path.

Within hours their numbers began to dwindle, most of them willing to return another day.

Chinese Troops Enter Xianjiang in Show of Force

In an effort to enforce peace, hundreds of police and military were trucked into Xianjiang, China.

On Wednesday, dozens were killed when Uighurs attacked a police station, in Turpan, and dozens more in another attack in Hotan, on Friday.

This weekend marks the four year anniversary of deadly riots, in the region, which saw hundreds die.

The government is hoping that their show of force will keep violence from continuing.

Roadside Bomb Kills 8 in Thailand

Eight soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb exploded, in Thailand.

It happened in the Krong Pinang district of Yala province.

A military convoy was passing through when the blast hit.

The region has seen turmoil since Islamist militants began an insurgency in 2004.

Dylan Redwine's Body Found

Searchers working with the La Plata County Sheriff's found a body, this week.

On Thursday evening, it was confirmed that the body was Dylan Redwine's.

He had been missing since November 19, 2012.

According to authorities, his bones had been scattered by wildlife.

However, they still believe that Dylan was murdered, and that his disappearance was not an accident.

What has led them to that belief, has not yet been released.

Weather Continues to Help Spread West Fork Complex Fire

Weather is continuing to be an issue for those fighting the West Fork Complex Fire, in Colorado.

Friday afternoon and evening the forecast is for strong winds, low humidity, and a high chance of lightning.

Combined with the high temperatures, the conditions could very well see a spread of the blaze as well as the start of new fires.

Nearly sixteen hundred firefighters and eighteen aircraft are working to make sure that the fire doesn't spread any further.

At this point there is zero containment and authorities admit that some of the areas might not be fully extinguished for months.

The West Fork Complex Fire comprises of three fires: Papoose, West Fork, and Windy Pass.

They have combined to burn more than ninety thousand acres and forced the evacuations of entire towns, with more on standby.
