Uttarakhand Rehab Committee Approved

The government of Uttarakhand has approved a committee to oversee rehabilitation of the Indian state after June's floods.

They also planned out financial and food grants per person, to help in recovery.

Nearly three thousand people were confirmed dead in the floods, which wiped out entire towns.

Another three thousand are still missing.

More rain is expected, starting on Friday.

100,000 March For Democracy in Hong Kong

Over one hundred thousand people marched through the rain in Hong Kong, on Monday.

They are demanding that they be given free elections to elect their own leaders.

Currently, the Chinese government appoints the leaders of the city.

The march has become a yearly event, since 2003, after British rule ended and Chinese rule began in 1997.

Leung Chun-ying, China's current appointed leader, is massively unpopular.

China has already pledged that elections will be allowed in 2017, when Leung's term is up.

West Fork Complex Fire Nearing 100,000 Acres as Containment Begins

As the West Fork Complex Fire crosses the ninety-six thousand acre mark, officials have announced that it is now two percent contained.

Humidity, a bit of rain, and lower temperatures have helped firefighters in at least slowing it's spread.

More than fifteen hundred firefighters aided by around twenty aircraft have been battling the flames.

The West Fork Complex Fire comprises of three fires: Papoose, West Fork, and Windy Pass.

At times they forced the evacuations of entire towns, but some of those have been lifted, though residents remain on standby.

4 Teens Shot at Aurora House Party

Four teens were shot at a house party in Aurora, Colorado, early Sunday morning.

It happened near 17th and Peoria, just before one.

None of the wounded suffered life threatening injuries.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

However, they have not released any further information.

South Western US Heat Wave Turns Deadly

Record breaking heat in the south western US has now become deadly, as a man has died in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Temperatures have set new records in Arizona, California, and Nevada.

Even Death Valley, California has come close to setting records of it's own.

In Phoenix, flights were cancelled as temperatures reached one hundred and nineteen.

The cancellations came as many airplanes are only rated for temperatures as high as one hundred and eighteen, and conditions were deemed unsafe for take off.

High temperatures are expected to continue through Tuesday.

8 Shot at Brooklyn House Party

Eight people were shot at a house party in Brooklyn, New York, early Sunday morning.

According to witnesses, at least sixty people were at the party, when a fight broke out just before one in the morning.

A gun was pulled, and ten shots were fired.

All eight of the wounded are expected to survive.

Police are still looking for the shooter.

Helicopter Crash Lands on Hudson River

A helicopter crash landed onto the Hudson River, Sunday morning.

Luckily, the helicopter had been equipped with flotation devices, that the pilot was able to activate before the crash.

A New York City fire department boat was able to rescue those aboard and tow the helicopter to land.

None of the five people aboard were injured.

The helicopter had been taking tourists around the city, for an aerial view.

Authorities are investigating what caused it to require an emergency landing.

Obama Pledges $7 Billion for African Electricity

President Obama surprised many when he pledged seven billion dollars towards developing electricity in South Africa.

He promised that the US government will spend at least seven billion to see double the electricity available.

Obama stated that the US would benefit from seeing a stronger Africa.

The President did not say where the US would find the money for such an investment, as it is heavily in debt.

Conservatives have been trying for budget cuts for years, yet Democrats and many Republicans continue spending money.

Croatia Celebrates Entry into EU

Thousands joined the public celebrations of Croatia's official entry into the European Union, on Sunday.

Fireworks flashed above every city, as the country became the twenty-eighth member of the EU.

In Zagreb, EU and regional officials joined the celebrations.

At midnight, the sounds of Beethoven's Ode to Joy, the EU's anthem, rang out.

While now an official member of the union, Croatia still has a ways to go before becoming part of the Eurozone.

Their economy is considered to weak to be allowed into the group of EU countries that shares the Euro.

15 Injured at Car Race in Poland

Fifteen people, including two children, were injured at the Gran Turismo Polonia, on Sunday.

A car lost control and skidded into the crowd, causing the injuries.

Police are questioning the driver, about the accident.

The three day race, in Poznan, Poland, draws thousands from all over Europe.

Many of the drivers are amateurs.
