6.4 Quake Shakes Indonesia

A 6.4 earthquake struck off the coast of the Mentawai Islands, on Saturday.

Other parts of Indonesia felt the quake, causing fear in many areas.

Residents fled into the streets and ran for high ground, as a precaution.

However no damage or injuries were reported, nor was a tsunami caused.

US Army: Private First Class Errol D. A. Milliard

Private First Class Errol D. A. Milliard, eighteen of Birmingham, Alabama, died on July 4.

He was killed by a rocket propelled grenade in Farah province, Afghanistan.

It was his first deployment.

Milliard was assigned to the 2nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade out of White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.

His decorations include: Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, a posthumous Purple Heart, and a posthumous Bronze Star.

Bank Robber Leaves Money Behind

A man walked into 1st Bank at I70 and 32nd Avenue in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and robbed it, Friday morning.

The man threatened the teller and demanded all the money the bank had.

He waited til money was gathered and then left, without taking any of the money.

Police arrested fifty year old Paul Hartman on Friday afternoon.

Hartman is charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor theft.

Suspect Wounded in Standoff With JeffCo Sheriff

The Jefferson County Sheriff responded to a domestic violence call, Friday morning.

When officers arrived at the Morrison, Colorado home they were fired upon.

Thirty officers, including JeffCo SWAT, were called to the scene and neighbors were ordered to stay indoors.

Around 15:00 MDT, the suspect and officers exchanged more fire, resulting in the suspect taking multiple wounds.

He was transported to the hospital where he is in stable condition.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Police said that no one else was in the home, as the woman who initially made the call, did so after leaving the house.

28 Injured in California Firework Accident

Twenty-eight people were injured in a firework accident in California, on Thursday.

Thousands were attending the Fireworks Extravaganza in Simi Valley, when the incident occurred.

According to witnesses, several of the fireworks failed to ascend, but burst at ground level.

Other fireworks continued to take off for about a minute after the accident.

As a precaution, a bomb squad was called in to deal with the unexploded ordinance.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Furloughs Set to Hit National Guard

Starting on Monday, members of the National Guard will see their work week cut from forty down to thirty-two hours.

Their pay is being cut as well, as federal budget cuts begin to be felt.

About one thousand soldiers and airmen, per state, will find themselves hit by the cuts.

Concerns are high as it will effect the Guard's ability to respond in case of emergency.

This is especially concerning to states that have to deal with natural disasters.

2013 has been a bad year for fires, floods, and tornadoes.

With all of those still being worried about, it is also the beginning of hurricane season.

If a major catastrophe was to hit, the Guard would not be able to respond as quickly or smoothly as before the cuts.

Their very motto of "Always ready, always there" is in danger due to the cuts.

Clashes Continue to Grow in Egypt

Clashes between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and the opposition continue in Egypt.

In Cairo, they once again became deadly.

The latest incident happened between Muslim Brotherhood protesters and the military.

When the crowd kept coming forward troops opened fire, killing three and injuring sixty-nine.

In Qina, two were wounded when soldiers there opened fire, as a mob of Morsi supporters attacked a government building.

Shootings in other cities were reported as well, though they all seem to have been shots fired into the air.

The shootings have galvanized supporters of former president Morsi and they have taken to the streets demanding his return to power.

Opposition leaders are urging their supporters to return to the streets and keep the Muslim Brotherhood from winning.

15 Shiites Killed While at Prayers in Baghdad

Fifteen people were killed and thirty wounded when a suicide bomber struck a Shiite mosque in Baghdad.

The attack happened during the prayers of the night.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but Al Qaeda is the most likely suspect.

It was but the latest of attacks aimed at Shiite mosques, in Iraq.

2013 is seeing the worst levels of violence since American troops left the country.

2 Afghan Suicide Bombings Kill 14

Two separate attacks left fourteen dead in Afghanistan, on Friday.

The first attacked happened at the Spin Boldak border crossing in Kandahar Province.

A suicide bomber blew his vest up killing a border guard and a civilian.

Just hours later, a man in a police uniform sat to lunch in a police barracks, before blowing himself up.

Twelve police were killed there.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, however the Taliban is being blamed for them.

US Army: First Sergeant Tracy L. Stapley

First Sergeant Tracy L. Stapley, forty-four of Clearfield, Utah, died on July 3.

His death, at Camp as Sayliyah, Qatar, is under investigation.

Stapley was assigned to the 308th Medical Logistics Company out of Saint George, Utah.
