Bus Crash in Malaysia Kills 37

Thirty-seven people were killed in a bus crash in Malaysia.

Another sixteen are injured, with several in critical condition.

The bus left the road and fell more than two hundred feet.

It had been headed to Betong, a resort town where tourists come to use the casinos.

Authorities are investigating in an attempt to discover what caused the driver to swerve off the road.

US Army: First Lieutenant Timothy G. Santos Jr

First Lieutenant Timothy G. Santos Jr., twenty-nine of Helena, Alabama, died on August 18.

He became ill with an unrecognized disease on March 24, while serving in Kuwait, and was moved to Fort Bliss, Texas for treatment.

Santos was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, 1st Armored Division out of Fort Bliss, Texas.

Explosion at New Jersey Naval Station Injures 8

Eight people were injured when an explosion tore through a building on Naval Weapons Station Earle, in New Jersey.

One of them is in serious condition.

Routine maintenance was being done on a boat, Tuesday morning, when it exploded.

The boat and the building were ripped apart.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the explosion.

Egypt Plans Trial for Muslim Brotherhood Leaders

Egyptian police have arrested the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie was arrested on Tuesday, and plans for his trial are already being made.

He and five other leaders of the brotherhood will be tried for various charges, including inciting murder and rebellion.

Police have more than one thousand members of the brotherhood in custody, and sent the remaining leadership into hiding.

The government is also moving to ban religious centered political parties.

Such a ban would make the brotherhood illegal, as it once was.

20,000 Evacuated Due to Flooding in Russia

Twenty thousand people have been evacuated from areas that are flooding in Eastern Russia.

Authorities ordered a general evacuation as waters continued to rise, after nearly a week of heavy rains.

Some people have refused to leave, leaving their safety in doubt.

Several rivers have flooded, but the Zeya is by far the worst.

Normally about a quarter of a mile across, it now stretches nearly six miles from side to side.

The Russian government has deployed soldiers to aid in whatever ways they can.

Sinai Attack Kills 25 Police in Egypt

Twenty-five Egyptian police were killed and two injured when their two buses were attacked in the Sinai.

Monday's attack came near Rafah, on police who were not in uniform.

Conflicting reports say that the buses were either hit by rocket propelled grenades or that they were forced to stop and then shot execution style.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

29 Killed in Train Accident in India

Twenty-nine people were killed when a high speed train ran into a crowd in Dhamara Ghat, India.

The train had been cleared to go through the town without stopping, but as it did so a group of Hindu pilgrims crossed the tracks.

Going over fifty miles per hour, the train's driver was unable to stop in time.

Once he did stop, he was severely beaten by an angry mob.

The mob then lit the train on fire and kept rescue workers from getting to the site, for over an hour.

Severe Weather Kills 105 in China

Northern and southern China are reeling from storms that have killed one hundred and five people.

Another one hundred and fifteen are missing, with hundreds injured.

Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces have been dealing with heavy rains for nearly a week.

The rains have caused severe flooding, taking eighty-three lives and causing heavy damage.

Typhoon Utor struck Guangdong province, killing twenty-two, and caused flooding in Hunan and Guangxi Zhuang as well.

China's government has sent soldiers to help aid the areas.

2 Killed in Kansas City Plane Crash

Two people were killed when their plane crashed at Wheeler Downtown Airport, in Kansas City, Sunday afternoon.

Their single engine plane had engine trouble nearly immediately after take off.

The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but fell about a quarter of a mile short of the runway.

A full investigation is underway to try and determine the exact cause of the crash.

Mount Sakurajima Erupts in Japan

Mount Sakurajima, in southern Japan, erupted on Sunday afternoon.

For about fifty minutes the volcano spewed ash around sixteen thousand feet into the air.

Kagoshima dealt with the falling ash for hours, after the eruption.

Lava also flowed out, but did not threaten any populated areas.
