Luxembourg Holds Elections

Luxembourgers hit the polls, on Sunday.

Thirty-three percent of them voted to keep the CSV in power.

Their coalition partners, the socialist LSAP, took twenty percent of the vote.

The liberal DP took eighteen percent, maintaining it's position as the leading member of the opposition.

Expectations are for the coalitions to remain the same, though the DP is hoping to bring the LSAP over to it's side.

That coalition, combined with the Greens, would be able to take control from the CSV.

However, that situation is unlikely.

60 Injured in Montenegro Riot

Sixty people were injured during a riot in Podgorica, Montenegro.

Sunday's riot occurred when protesters attempted to attack a gay rights march.

Police blocked their path, so the attackers turned on the officers.

Twenty police officers were injured, as were forty of their attackers.

Officials and gay rights activists praised the police for their success in protecting the parade.

Clashes Break Out Between Students and Police in Cairo

Clashes broke out in Cairo, between protesters and police, on Sunday.

A protests was carried out by hundreds of students, on the al-Azhar University.

Police showed up, but only kept an eye on the students, while they were on the campus.

However, when the students tried to spread their protest, outside of the university, police blocked their path.

This led to stones being thrown by protesters, while police responded with tear gas.

There were no reports of injuries, from the confrontation.

37 Killed in Syria Car Bombing

Thirty-seven people were killed and six seriously injured when a suicide bomber blew up a truck with over a ton of explosives, in Syria.

The blast struck at a checkpoint in Hama.

Twenty-three other vehicles, multiple shops, and homes were destroyed in the blast.

Firefighters were kept busy trying to contain and put out the fires from so many burning vehicles.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

It was the second time in two days that a checkpoint had been the target of a suicide bombing.

Car Bombs Kill 45 in Iraq

Forty-five people were killed in three car bombings, on Sunday, in Iraq.

The worst bombing happened at a popular cafe frequented by teens and twenties, in Amil.

Thirty-five were killed and forty-five wounded, in the Shiite town.

In north Baghdad, a car bomb blew outside a police officer's home, killing seven and wounding six.

Two police officers and a council member were killed by a suicide car bombing, which injured another twenty.

No one claimed responsibility for any of the attacks.

Nearly four hundred have been killed, in Iraq, during October.

State of Emergency Called in New South Wales Due to Fires

A state of emergency has been declared for New South Wales.

The state, like much of Australia, is dealing with sever fire situations.

A declaration of emergency gives extra powers to fire crews, including calling mandatory evacuations and being able to shut off power and gas.

Concerns are growing that three major fires could combine and threaten Sydney, which is already dealing with smoke from the fires.

One person has been killed and two have been seriously injured by the flames.

More than two hundred homes have been lost, in the state.

US Army: Sergeant Lyle D. Turnbull

Sergeant Lyle D. Turnbull, thirty-one of Norfolk, Virginia, died on October 18.

A medical emergency occurred while he was at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

Turnbull was assigned to the 62nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade out of Fort Hood, Texas.

San Antonio Gun Rights Activist Hold Rally Outside of The Alamo

Hundreds of gun rights activists rallied outside of The Alamo, on Saturday.

Most of them were from San Antonio.

The rally was held as a reminder to Texans that they have the legal right to bear long guns in public, as long as they don't do so in a threatening way.

San Antonio police were present, as the city has a law against open carry, but did not interfere with the gathering.

Oil Train Derails and Explodes in Alberta

An oil train derailed and exploded in Alberta, early Saturday morning.

Thirteen cars, four bearing petroleum crude oil and nine carrying liquified petroleum gas, came off the rails.

Fire quickly spread on both sides of the tracks and the Yellowhead Highway.

The nearby town of Gainford was evacuated as precaution.

Firefighters have contained the flames and saved the town.

Canada's Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the accident.

58 Injured in Train Crash in Argentina

Fifty-eight people were injured in a train crash in Buenos Aires, Saturday morning.

The train failed to come to a stop at the end of the line, crashing into a station.

Passengers were injured by the impact of the crash, while those waiting to board were hurt by flying glass and other shrapnel.

An angry mob formed and began attacking the train, forcing police to rescue the injured driver.

Riot police arrived and cleared the station of rioters.

Officials have ordered a full investigation of the accident.

Fifty-two people were killed when a train did the exact same thing, in February 2012.
