A case had been brought before them, in which a grade school girl, wished to go to a specific elementary school, because it was better and closer to her home, but it was for whites only.
A unanimous decision was made by the court, deciding that separate but equal was nearly impossible, and that schools should no longer be segregated.
Only through integration could true equality be accomplished.
The decision led to further great strides in the civil rights movement, and helped end all forms of segregation.
