Two thousand Foxconn employees rioted and fought with police Monday morning, in Taiyuan, China.
Five thousand police were sent in after the plant's seventy-nine thousand workers began striking after employees say security guards at the plant supposedly began beating workers.
The plant's owners say that employees started brawling with each other and the guards were attempting to break it up.
Police say forty people were hospitalized, three of whom were in critical condition.
Riot police have been protecting the factory since, which is expected to be closed for a few days.
The plant is one of the sources for Apple's new I5 phones.
