1 Dead After North Carolina Hospital Fire

Early Tuesday, firefighters were called to Durham Regional Hospital for an explosion.

One patient was killed and three employees were injured, at the North Carolina facility.

Firefighters eventually declared that there had been no explosion, simply a fire.

The hospital's fire sprinkler system was successful in putting the fire out.

Water damage was excessive on the sixth floor, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
