About two hours after the first runners had crossed the finish line an explosion happened at it.
Moments later a second blast occurred about a hundred yards further up the path of the race.
Most of the injuries were to the legs, and witnesses described seeing limbs sheered off of those who had been in the radius of the blast.
An hour later a third blast struck the John F. Kennedy Library, but it did not cause any injuries.
Police defused two more explosive devices, that were found near the finish line.
Some sources say that a suspect is in custody, at a local hospital, but no official word has been released.
