Fifty-four of Colorado's sixty-four sheriffs set a federal lawsuit against the state, on Friday.
The lawsuit argues that recent laws, passed by the state legislature, violate the US Constitution.
According to the sheriffs, the laws infringe upon the 2nd Amendment's guarantee of the right to bear arms.
They further say that the laws are flawed and would be too difficult for citizens to comply with.
Previously, multiple sheriffs had already stated that they will not enforce the laws, which go into effect on July 1.
