Specialist Mitchell K. Daehling, twenty-four of Dalton, Massachusetts, died on May 14.
He and three others were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in was struck by a roadside bomb, in Sanjaray, Afghanistan.
It was his first tour of duty.
Daehling was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division out of Fort Bliss, Texas.
Among his completed courses were: Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training.
His decorations include: National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.
