He and three other Americans were killed when mortars struck Bagram Airfield, in Afghanistan.
It was his first deployment to Afghanistan, following two to Iraq.
Johnson was assigned to the 10th Transport Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade out of Fort Eustis, Virginia.
His decorations include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal.
