Rebels Kidnap Police Chief After Military Rescues 120 Hostages in The Philippines

Military forces in the Philippines were able to rescue one hundred and twenty hostages, on Tuesday.

Rebel forces responded to the rescue by seizing a negotiation team, which included the city's police chief.

The rebels had taken nearly two hundred hostages when they infiltrated the Zamboanga City on September 9.

Since then, over one hundred people, mostly rebels, have been killed as the military works to retake the parts of the city that the rebels took.

The rebels belong to the Moro National Liberation Front, which is demanding greater autonomy for the region.

Previously, their leader had declared the area to be it's own Islamic nation, despite it having a mostly Christian population.
