Nigria Retakes Cell Towers From Boko Haram

Nigeria says it's army was successful in killing seven members of the islamist terrorist group Boko Haram.

Thirteen more people were arrested after a gun fight with the Nigerian army.

The attack came after Boko Haram moved to capture a series of cell towers.

Army forces moved back in the area and were attacked by the militants.

Government troops suffered no casualties.

Man Steals 1200 Library Books

Mitsuka Suizu may have the highest library fine ever.

Suizu admitted to stealing nearly twelve hundred library books, from fifteen libraries, over a seven year period.

Japanese police arrested found books from every genre and on every subject, in his home.

It's estimated that the books value is over twenty-five thousand dollars.

San Cristobal Causes Evacuations

On Saturday, Nicaragua's San Cristobal volcano let loose smoke, ash, and gasses.

People reported three explosions were heard moments before the partial eruption occurred.

This caused Nicaragua to evacuate about three thousand people from nearly a dozen villages, in the area.

Three hundred federal troops were sent to aid in the evacuation.

Tornadoes Near NYC

Two tornadoes have been confirmed near New York City during Saturday.

Tornado warnings and watches have been going throughout the day, and the sightings have sent people scrambling for their cameras.

Luckily the twisters have only caused minor damage and no injuries.

They have been produced by the same storm system that killed four people in Oklahoma, on Friday.

Death Toll in China Rises to Eighty

Rain has added to the problems facing rescuers in southwestern China, as they attempt to find missing people after the quake that struck there Friday.

At least eighty people were killed by the original quake and it's series of aftershocks.

Landslides crushed houses, vehicles, and people, whilst covering roads and making them impassable for rescue vehicles.

Around a thousand people were injured and estimates have nearly 750,000 homeless.

Man Texts Police Offering Meth

A man in Idaho sent out a text asking if anyone know of anyone looking for drugs.

He was looking to pool money so that a bulk buy could be arranged.

However he made one error, one of the number's he texted was a wrong number.

That number belonged to a Lewiston police officer, who at first thought it was a joke text from another officer.

Once the officer proved it wasn't from a colleague, he set up a meet, offering $150 to get in on a meth purchase.

At the meet, on Wednesday, police arrested thirty-seven year old Aaron D. Templeton on conspiracy to purchase meth.

Blue to Gold: ARMY Pfc. Shane W. Cantu

ARMY Pfc. Shane W. Cantu, 20, of Corunna, Mich., died Aug. 28, in Charkh, Afghanistan.

Army Pfc. Shane W. Cantu, 20, died August 28, in Charkh, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by shrapnel from an explosion, according to the Department of Defense.

Cantu was assigned to 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy.

The Detroit Free Press reports Cantu, a Michigan native, was killed when a bomb thrown over a base wall by insurgents exploded.

Cantu had been in Afghanistan just a month when he died, according to the Free Press.

Denver Police Peacefully End Hostage Situation

Denver police responded to a shooting where two shooters had taken a hostage in a robbery gone wrong. SWAT and a Crisis Negotiation Team were eventually able to end the situation peacefully.

It all occurred at the Radio Shack at 5305 E Colfax Avenue. Police closed the intersection of Colfax and Glencoe, as well as sections of both streets during the incident.

People claiming to be friends of one of the the gunmen, said that nineteen year old's brother was recently killed in a standoff with Aurora police, and that he feared the same would happen to him in this standoff. He posted on Facebook asking friends and families to call him, to say their goodbyes.

Police escorted any employees and customers out of the neighboring businesses, after searching them. Denver Public Schools placed Palmer Elementary, Montclair School of Academics and Enrichment, Teller Elementary, and Park Hill Elementary on lockdown.

Much credit is being given to the Denver Police Department in their handling of the whole incident.
