USMC Staff Sergeant Eric D. Christian

Staff Sergeant Eric D. Christian, thirty-nine of Warwick, New York, died on May 4.

He and another Marine were killed when their unit was attacked in the Farah province of Afghanistan.

It was his fifth tour between Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan.

Christian was assigned to the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

US to Sell Remaining GM Stocks

The US Treasury Department has announced that it will begin selling off it's remaining General Motors shares.

In 2009, the US government bailed out GM and took over ownership.

Since then, they've sold off most of the company's shares, but are still left with an eighteen percent stake.

With GM, eighteen percent is more than two hundred and forty million shares.

Due to the large amount of shares, the government simply can't offer them up all at once, but they will do so as quickly as is deemed safe.

GM is hopeful that, once the shares are sold, they will be able to get away from the image of being government owned and work back towards having an untarnished image.

25 Pakistanis Killed in Suicide Bombing

The Taliban continued their attacks on political rallies, on Monday.

Twenty-five people were killed and sixty-five injured when a suicide bomber struck in the Kurram region of Pakistan.

Previously, attacks on rallies had all been against secular groups, but Monday's attack hit a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam rally.

Pakistan's election, which is to be held on May 11, is the first ever transition between civilian governments and the Taliban has declared it to be un-Islamic.

3 Car Bombs Kill 11 in Baghdad

Three separate car bombs targeted police in Baghdad, on Monday.

Two of them struck at police checkpoints, while the third hit a restaurant frequented by officers.

While the targets may have been the police, most of those killed were civilians.

Between the three bombs, ten civilians and one police officer were killed and thirty-three people were injured.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Al Qaeda is considered the likely suspect.

He and two others were killed when their KC-135 crashed near Chaldovar, Kyrgyzstan.

Mackey was assigned to the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron out of Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington.

Captain Victoria A. Pinckney, twenty-seven of Palmdale, California, died on May 3.

She and two others were killed when their KC-135 crashed near Chaldovar, Kyrgyzstan.

Pinckney was assigned to the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron out of Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington.

The Captain was a graduate of the US Air Force Academy.

Captain Mark T. Voss, twenty-seven of Boerne, Texas, died on May 3.

He and two others were killed when their KC-135 crashed near Chaldovar, Kyrgyzstan.

Voss was assigned to the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron out of Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington.

The Captain was a graduate of the US Air Force Academy.

1 Killed 44 Injured by Bomb in Tanzanian Catholic Church

One person was killed and forty-four injured when a bomb exploded at a Catholic church, in northern Tanzania.

Archbishop Francisco Montecillo Padilla, an envoy from the Vatican had been attending the opening mass for the church in Arusha, but he was unhurt.

Tanzanian officials believe he may have been the target of the bomb.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but authorities believe it was the work of local Muslims with links to Al Qaeda.

3 Killed as Muslims Hold Dhaka Siege

Thousands of Muslims poured into Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Sunday.

They came as part of the Dhaka Siege movement put on by Hefajat-e Islam and Jamaat-e-Islami.

The radical Islamist groups say that their goal is to be a Muslim version of the Occupy movement, seen in the US and Europe.

Protesters attacked police officers, who retaliated with tear gas and rubber bullets, killing three.

Over two hundred, on all sides, were injured in the clashes, including members of the press, who were singled out by the mob.

Israel Launches More Strikes Into Syria

Israeli air planes struck Syria once again, early Sunday morning. In the third attack of the year, Israel struck the hardest blow yet.

It's not yet completely clear what was struck, as Syria keeps changing their story. However, when Israel struck on Saturday, they hit missiles being transported to Hezbollah, in Lebanon, and it is believed that Sunday's strikes may have been aimed at more of them.

To avoid Syria's air defenses, Israel launched the attack from over Lebanon, drawing criticism from the Lebanese government. Syria warned that the attack was a declaration of war, by Israel, and that anything further would bring retaliation.

Iran, Syria's closest ally, and Egypt denounced the strikes as acts of aggression, that needed to be stopped immediately. In a rare moment of silence, President Obama stated that he had "no comment" about the raid.
