Restore The Fourth

Across the US, nearly one hundred protests will take place on Thursday.

As the country celebrates Independence Day, thousands will meet to protest "unconstitutional surveillance" that the government has been carrying out.

The Restore The Fourth movement is organizing things and promoting the fourth amendment: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

In addition to the protests, many websites will be "going black", by placing black boxes or covering their logo in black, for the day as a protest of their own.

Morsi Out

Protesters turned to celebrants as the head of Egypt's military announced that Morsi had been removed from power.

General Abdul Fatah Khalil Al-Sisi announced that Morsi had been placed under house arrest.

He let the people know that the constitution, that Morsi had forced through, was suspended.

A new council, headed by the top judge of the constitutional court, will take over for now, until a new government can be installed.

King Albert II to Abdicate

Citing his age and weakening health, King Albert II announced he will abdicating the Belgian throne.

On July 21, the country's national holiday, he will step down and his fifty-three year old son, Prince Philippe, will be crowned.

At the age of seventy-nine, Albert has been king for nearly twenty years.

He became king on August 2, 1993, following the death of his brother.

Egyptian Military Begins to Take Control

The Egyptian military's deadline for the politicians to come to terms with each other, expired at 17:30 Egyptian time, or 08:30 MDT.

President Morsi refused to accept the demands of the opposition and set himself to face off against the military.

As the deadline passed, Egyptian troops began moving in and securing government buildings and offices.

They also began moving in towards areas occupied by the Muslim Brotherhood and other Morsi supporters.

Morsi's government has decried the moves as the beginning of a coup, and accuse the military of trying to take power for themselves.

However, the thousands of protesters welcome them as allies in deposing Morsi.

The military has pledged that they will secure peace and install a council made up of leaders from both sides, while working to see new elections take place.

Towards that, they are already in talks with opposition leaders to ensure that is the result.

It is yet unclear if Morsi will step down, he will be betrayed by his followers, or if the military and opposition will remove him by force.

3 Attacks in Iraq Leave 7 Dead 26 Wounded

In a series of three attacks, seven people were killed and twenty-six injured, in Iraq, on Wednesday.

Two suicide car bombers struck at two separate army bases in Mosul.

One of them killed four soldiers and injured five.

The second struck as a wedding party went by, killing the groom and injuring four soldiers and twelve civilians, including the bride.

Near al-Mashahda, a roadside bomb exploded, killing two members of the Sahwa and injuring five.
 
The Sahwa are Sunni's that have been working with the Shiite government, making them a target for other Sunni groups.  

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, but the targets make it likely that they were carried out by Al Qaeda. 

Pakistan Condemns US Drone Strike

Two US drones fired at least four missiles at a militant compound in North Waziristan, Pakistan, late Tuesday night.

Sixteen people were killed and five wounded in the attack.

According to officials, the compound was part of the Haqqani network, a group known to launch attacks against US, NATO, and Afghan forces in Afghanistan.

The Pakistani government condemned the strikes, calling them an infringement upon their territory.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif demanded that no more such attacks be made.

Mudslides Damage 20 Homes in Waldo Canyon

Rains caused flash flooding and mudslides near Manitou Springs, Colorado, on Monday night.

At least twenty homes saw damage from walls of mud crashing into them.

Nine of those saw structural damage.

The area afflicted was around Waldo Canyon, where a fire burned last year.

The Waldo Canyon Fire killed two people, burned down three hundred and forty-six homes, and scorched nineteen thousand acres.

Due to the level of burning, mudslides will be a high likelihood for the area for a couple of years.

Ukrainian Town Riots After Police Refuse to Arrest Accused Rapist

Residents of Vradiyivka, Ukraine rioted on Tuesday after police refused to arrest an officer accused of raping and severely beating a woman.

The attack happened last week, and the girl identified two police officers and a taxi driver as being responsible.

Authorities arrested the driver and one of the officers, but said it was impossible that the second was involved.

Hundreds gathered outside the station in protest and then attacked the station, throwing bottles, rocks, and firebombs at it.

Police responded with tear gas and some reports said that shots were fired.

President Viktor Yanukovych has now ordered a national inquiry to take place.

The woman has required two surgeries since the incident, and more may be in her future.

Russian Rocket Fails to Safely Liftoff

A Russian rocket carrying three navigation satellites lasted about ten seconds after liftoff.

It then began to disintegrate and lost altitude til it crashed back to the earth.

Concerns are high as the smoke from the fire is toxic, due to the fuel, and is spreading towards nearby towns.

Officials are preparing evacuations, in case they become necessary.

Over the past three years, Russia has had a series of launch failures and accidents.

19 Killed in Siberia Helicopter Crash

Nineteen people were killed when an Mi-8 helicopter crashed in Sibera.

Twenty-eight people, including eleven children were aboard the helicopter when it went down.

According to authorities, the helicopter burst into flames when it hit the ground.

An investigation is underway to try and determine the cause of the crash.

No information regarding it's mission was released.
