Indians Protest After School Children Poisoned

Violent protests struck Dharmasati Gandaman in Saran province, India, on Wednesday.

Police vehicles were burned, trains were blocked, and streets shut down as the unrest spread.

Political leaders attempted to take control of the protest, but were chased off the streets.
The people are upset over the poisoning of forty-seven school children at a school food program.

Twenty-two of the children died from the food poisoning, and many of the rest are in critical condition.

It is believed that pesticides some how became mixed in with their food.

USMC: Lance Corporal Benjamin W. Tuttle

Lance Corporal Benjamin W. Tuttle, nineteen of Gentry, Arkansas, died on July 14.

He was evacuated from the USS Nimitz and died at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, due to unreleased medical complications.

Tuttle was assigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force out of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California.

14 Arrested After Los Angeles Protests Turns to Small Riot

Protests in Los Angeles turned violent, Monday night, leading to fourteen arrests.

Hundreds of people had been peacefully protesting at Leimart Park.

However, about two hundred split off and began vandalizing cars, bus stops, buildings, and shops.

They also beat innocent bystanders, including members of the press.

Los Angeles police officers moved in and cleared out the rioters, arresting fourteen of them.

Police Chief Charlie Beck warned that his officers will show less restraint if violence continues.

The protests took place over the Zimmerman/Martin case.

George Zimmerman was found not guilty on charges of second degree murder and manslaughter in the case of his killing Trayvon Martin.

The jury was convinced of the defense's case that the killing was in self defense.

Mexican Marines Capture Zetas Leader

Mexican Marines made a huge capture on Monday.

Outside of Nuevo Laredo, near the Texan border, they were able to capture Miguel Morales, the leader of the Zetas drug cartel.

Morales was one of the most wanted in the international drug war, and was wanted for kidnapping, murder, torture, and other charges.

He was flown to Mexico City, to await trial.

Under the leadership of Morales, the Zetas became one of the most violent, powerful, and feared cartels in the world.

Panama Seizes North Korean Ship Carrying Missiles

While conducting routine anti drug searches, Panamanian officials discovered undocumented missiles aboard a North Korean cargo ship.

The missiles had been hidden inside crates of brown sugar.

Panama announced the seizure of the vessel and detained the entire crew.

President Ricardo Martinelli said, "We're going to keep unloading the ship and figure out exactly what was inside".

North Korea has yet to make a comment about the incident.

Greeks Strike Against Austerity

Thousands of Greeks went on strike after unions called for a twenty-four hour general strike, on Tuesday.

Public transit, air traffic controllers, hospital staff, and other government workers walked off the job at the appointed time.

They marched through the streets chanting and waving signs.

The strikes are a protest for the latest round of planned austerity measures.

Parliament will be voting on Wednesday to decide whether or not to pass them.

Passing the measures will mean lay offs and wage cuts.

Greece must pass the measures if they want to see nine billion euros in loans from the EU.

Putin Spectates at Largest Russian War Games in Decades

President Putin flew to Sakhalin Island, on the east coast of Russia, on Tuesday to over see war games, he ordered.

With one hundred and sixty thousand troops, thousands of tanks and armored vehicles, one hundred and thirty planes, and seventy ships participating the war games are Russia's largest since the Cold War ended.

On Friday, Putin ordered the games to be held, and they began that night.

Russia has held several unscheduled war games over the past few months.

7 Die in Latest Clashes in Egypt

Seven people were killed and two hundred and sixty-one injured in the latest Egyptian clashes.

Those include protesters and security forces, though it is unclear how many of each.

Monday's violence occurred when supporters of former president Morsi blocked bridges across the Nile, in Cairo and Giza.

Security forces moved in, to clear the bridges, using tear gas to force the stone throwing mobs to move.

Four hundred and one arrests were made, over the confrontation.

Zimmerman Verdict Followed by Nationwide Protests

Dozens of protests took place across the United States after the Zimmerman trial verdict was released.

Protests took place in almost every major city in the US, with more being planned for Sunday or the coming week.

In Oakland, California the protest turned to a riot as a mob began damaging police cars and other vehicles, breaking windows, spray painting, and starting fires.

Oakland police formed a line blocking the rioters path and marched them backwards til they dispersed.

No arrests were made in the incident.

33 Dead in Lac-Megantic, 17 Missing

Thirty-three bodies of victims from last Saturday's train crash and explosion in Lac-Megantic, Quebec have now been recovered.

Seventeen people are still missing, but presumed dead.

Authorities are planning on knocking down two buildings, in the down town area, on Sunday.

They consider the buildings at too great a risk of collapsing on workers who are searching through the rubble for the missing victims.

Several hundred people are still under evacuation, due to the oil spill that was also a result of the accident.

Officials say that the crash was caused because the air brakes on the train failed.

It had been parked nearly eight miles uphill from Lac-Megantic, over night.

Late Friday night, a fire occurred on the train, but it is unclear if that was what caused the brake failure.

The Canadian Transportation Safety Board is continuing the investigation.
