Escaped Python Kills 2 Children in New Brunswick

Two children were killed by an escaped python in Campbellton, New Brunswick.

The python managed to escape it's enclosure at Reptile Ocean.

It then crawled through ventilation in the building, and ended up falling through the ceiling of the second floor.

Three boys were having a sleep over, and the snake strangled two of them.

Their bodies and the snake were found Monday morning, when they were checked in on by one of the boy's father.

Authorities are not pressing charges, at this time, and consider it to be a tragic accident.

The victims were five and seven years old.

Rebels Make Gains in Syria

Syrian rebel forces made some key gains, on Monday.

Near the Turkish border they finally captured Minnig Military Airport, after besieging it since January.

Nine different rebel groups were involved in the siege, including two that are members of the Al Qaeda terrorist network.

The base finally fell after a suicide bomber drove a truck into the last government stronghold and blew everything up.

That forced the rest of the government forces to abandon their positions and the airport.

Meanwhile, in western Syria, rebels continued their progress towards Qardaha, using the mountains to protect their movements from government forces.

Ten rebel groups, including two from Al Qaeda, are operating there.

Rebel forces needed the accomplishments after several defeats at the hand of the government's troops, and it's allies.

Thousands Protest Guilty Verdict in Coup Trial in Turkey

Thousands of Turks protested outside of the courthouse in Silivri, after two hundred and fifty-eight people were found guilty of plotting a coup.

Seventeen of those, including military officers, a journalist, and a politician, were given life sentences.

The government compiled more than four million pages of documents, as part of it's investigation.

However, many Turks believe that the charges and trial were politically motivated, not based on fact.

They accuse the government of staging the whole thing in order to remove political enemies.

93 Killed in Pakistan and Afghanistan Floods

Flooding continues to plague Pakistan and Afghanistan, since rains began on Saturday.

Ninety-three people have been confirmed dead with hundreds more injured or missing.

Around one hundred thousand have been displaced as the waters have submerged entire villages.

Officials in both countries are racing to try and come to their people's aid, though washed out roads have made that difficult.

US Helicopter Crashes on Okinawa

A US HH 60 Pave Hawk helicopter crashed on Okinawa, on Monday.

One of the four crew members was hospitalized, while one of the others is listed as missing.

Search and rescue are combing the area for the missing member of the crew.

According to officials at the Hansen USMC base said that it was on a training mission, when the accident occurred.

An investigation is underway to try and determine what caused the crash.

New York City Shooting Leaves 14 Year Old Gunman Dead

A shooting in the Bronx left a fourteen year old shooter dead, early Sunday morning.

The fourteen year old was chasing another youth, firing a gun at him as he did so.

Two members of the New York Police Department witnessed this and commanded him to stop.

When he refused to do so, one of the officers fired a single round, striking the fourteen year old in the jaw.

By the time an ambulance had arrived, fourteen year old Shaaliver Douse lay dead.

California Plant Demolition Injures 3

Three people were injured during a demolition of an old power plant in Bakersfield, California, on Saturday morning.

One of the victims was seriously injured, with one leg partially amputated.

Police had evacuated an area a thousand feet from the blast zone, but it wasn't enough.

An investigation of the explosion is underway.

3 Killed as Plane Crashes Into South Carolina Residential Area

Three people were killed when a small plane crashed into a South Carolina residential area.

It occurred in Conway, just north of Myrtle Beach, on Saturday afternoon.

All three of the victims were aboard the plane, and no one on the ground was hurt.

The plane took at power lines as it came down, but did not damage any homes.

An investigation, into the cause of the crash, has been begun by the FAA and the NTSB.

12 Killed in Attack in Jalalabad Afghanistan

Twelve people were killed in a shooting and car bombing in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

Three militants and nine civilians were killed and twenty-four more civilians were wounded.

Many of the victims were children, who had been attending classes at a neighboring mosque.

The bombers were stopped at a checkpoint, near the Indian consulate, and engaged guards in a firefight.

When it was made clear to them that they wouldn't be going any further they blew up their vehicle and themselves.

29 Killed by Floods in Pakistan

Twenty-nine people have died as a result of torrential rains and flash flooding in Pakistan.

Sixteen of the deaths occurred in Karachi and thirteen in Khyber Pakhtunhwa.

Dozens more were injured, roads have been washed out, hundreds of houses have been destroyed, and entire villages submerged.

The rains, which began on Saturday, are expected to last several more days.
