US SEAL Teams Raid Libya and Somalia

Two US SEAL teams made raids in Libya and Somalia, on Saturday.

In Libya, a SEAL team was able to successfully capture Anas al Liby, a leader in Al Qaeda.

Liby is thought to be the man who organized attacks on US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, in 1998.

The other team made a move to grab an Al Shabaab leader in Barawe, Somalia.

They were repelled by heave fire, from Al Shabaab forces.

According to US sources, the SEAL team was unsuccessful in the capture, but was able to kill the leader.

Where as Al Shabaab says that they did lose a fighter, but he was not the leader.

Al Shabaab also claims to have killed at least one of the "invaders" and wounded four more.

Terrorism Kills 80 in Iraq

Eighty people were killed in terrorist acts, on Saturday, in Iraq.

The biggest attack occurred at a bridge between Adhamiya and Kadhamiya, when a suicide bomber struck a Shiite procession.

Fifty-one people were killed and one hundred and nine injured by that single bomb.

Several fires were started by the explosion, but they were eventually controlled.

At a cafe in Balad, sixteen were killed and thirty wounded by a suicide bomber.

Another cafe, in Baya, was struck with bomb, killing three and wounding fifteen.

In Yusufiya, a bomb killed three.

Two shootings and a bombing left seven dead in Mosul, including two members of the press.

Man Set on Fire in DC

Emergency crews responded to the National Mall, in DC, on Friday.

They were called due to a man being on fire.

Witnesses say that he dowsed himself with gasoline and then lit himself on fire.

The man was airlifted to a hospital and is in critical condition.

It happened near the National Air and Space Museum.

No motive is known, at this time, and the incident is under investigation.

Italy's Senate Moves Toward Stripping Berlusconi of His Seat

Friday saw the next step of stripping Silvio Berlusconi of his seat in the Italian senate take place.

Two months ago, Berlusconi was convicted of tax fraud, and that conviction led to today's vote.

Friday's vote was only done by a special panel, but now it will move to a vote from the entire senate.

In an attempt to avoid Friday's vote, Berlusconi had tried to bring down the government and force new elections, but his move failed.

The former prime minister controls the People of Freedom Party, however, if expelled from the Senate he may also face a ban from politics.

On October 15, Berlusconi begins his one year sentence, for the tax fraud, though it most likely will only consist of house arrest.

Riots in Kenya Leave 4 Dead

Four people are dead after riots broke out in Mombasa, Kenya, on Friday.

They were sparked Thursday night when Sheik Ibrahim Ismail, a radical cleric linked to Al Shabaab, and three others were killed in a drive by shooting.

Friday morning, Muslims began building barricades in the streets and attacking Christian buildings.

Mombasa's Salvation Army Worship Center was set on fire as were several cars.

Police attempted to regain the streets, but were forced to retreat from the hail of bottles, bricks, stones, and objects on fire.

Military forces were called in and they were able to reestablish control, after a few short fire fights.

4 Killed in Cairo Clashes

Clashes erupted once again in Alexandria, Cairo, and other Egyptian cities.

In Cairo, four people were killed and at least forty injured in Friday's violence.

Supporters of the former president and backers of the new government began the fighting.

Security forces then broke up the two groups.

However in Cairo, the Morsi supporters charged security forces who fired tear gas and live rounds at protesters.

The Muslim Brotherhood has called for a full rebellion and told soldiers to mutiny and join their cause.

Police Kill Driver After Short Chase in DC

Police in DC shot a woman dead after she led them on a short chase down Pennsylvania Avenue, on Thursday.

It began when the thirty-four year old Connecticut woman rammed her car into a barricade near the White House.

Unable to get through the barricade, on the first try, she reversed and then struck it again, this time making it through.

In the process of that she struck and injured a member of the Secret Service, who was trying to get her to stop.

She then raced down Pennsylvania Avenue, with police in pursuit.

As she approached Congress, police opened fire on her car, killing her.

Many government buildings, in the immediate area, were placed on lock down, due to the shooting.

A one year old little girl was found, unharmed, in the car and taken to protective services.

Officials say that a Capitol Police officer was injured, during the chase, when his car was totaled when he struck a barricade.

At this time, no motive for the incident is known.

Government officials are conducting a full investigation.

103 Migrants Die Off Italy's Coast

A boat carrying migrants from Libya to Italy went down off the Italian coast, on Thursday.

A fire broke out on the boat and those on board rushed to one side, to avoid the flames, causing the boat to capsize.

Over one hundred and fifty people were rescued, while one hundred and three bodies were found.

Officials say that as many as five hundred were aboard the boat.

Boats, helicopters, and planes are scouring the area, searching for more survivors.

Plane Crash in Nigeria Kills 15

Fifteen people were killed when an airplane crashed in Nigeria, on Thursday morning.

The plane had just left Murtala Muhammad International Airport, in Lagos, when it came down less than half a mile away.

No buildings were struck, nor was there a fire, but the plane did break up on contact with the ground.

One survivor is in critical condition, while four are in stable.

A full investigation is underway, to determine the cause of the crash.

Tom Clancy, Dead at 66

Famed writer, Tom Clancy, died at the age of sixty-six, on October 1, 2013.

He was born on April 12, 1947, in Baltimore, Marlyand.

In 1984, his first book, The Hunt for Red October, debuted and it quickly brought him international notice.

Seventeen of his books would become best sellers, with his latest set to come out on December 3.

Clancy cofounded Red Storm Entertainment, in 1996, as a way to bring his books to the video game world.

A life long Republican, he joined the National Rifle Association in 1978, and in 1993 became one of the owners of the Baltimore Orioles.
