Obama said one thing during the October 3, 2012 debate that many liberal pundits have seemed to latch onto between their fits of excuses and finger pointing over Obama's debate loss. Obama stated that Romney doesn't have a plan, just an idea because he has not published anything in detail.
What it actually demonstrates is that Romney is willing to do a few things that Obama cannot even seem to comprehend the concepts they involve.
1. Lead
A leader presents guidance. A leader is sensitive to the common goal of his followers, then provides a clear vision of that goal, that objective, that end state. A leader also identifies the interim objectives necessary to reaching the eventual objective. A leader accepts a mission, then issues smaller mission statements that fall in line with those interim objectives. In the case of an elected leader, that leader receives his mission from those he represents. In our republic, that means his superiors are the same as the led.
A good leader provides guidance that contains a task, purpose, and end state. Romney has done just that.
2. Surround himself with actual experts and listen to them.
Romney, unlike Obama, does not think himself omniscient. Obama selected so called experts such as Valerie Jarrett to fill positions they were grossly unqualified to fill. VJ may be an expert at something, but it is not the subjects her job title implies. Romney has a history of surrounding himself with competent people who are willing to tell him the hard truth and advise him accordingly. He would not have had his successes in the business world or in saving the SLC Olympics if he didn't.
A leader doesn't produce a final, detailed plan in a vacuum. They "staff" those plans. Staffs provide a group of experts and advisers from both academia and the practical world. They don't necessarily have all of the answers, but are adept at finding those answers and testing them before offering them as advice.
3. Listen to dissenting opinions and evidence before committing to a course of action
A good leader is one who will come up with a concept, then actually ask people to challenge it. Dissenting opinions provide a form of "wargaming" that helps rid any good plan of faults. Those who offer dissenting opinions to Obama are dismissed by him. However, Romney has already, while Governor, demonstrated the ability to listen to those dissenting opinions and formulate a plan, or compromise when necessary.
Romney issued a warning order that included his "commander's guidance". He did not hand an full OPORD to his staff and say "don't advise, don't plan, just execute". If you look at the five point plan he suggested in the debate, it is obvious he has a sound concept. He has established his interim objectives:
1. Put the USA on a path to energy independence.
2. Open trade on a global scale in order to increase the USA's market share and market value.
3. Increase opportunities for Americans to acquire skills and knowledge that will make our workers more competitive on the global scale, thereby increasing the value of our nation's human capital.
4. Balance the budget so our government isn't spending more than it is accruing in revenue. That is just smart. Any household that is spending more than it makes is, well, stupid. Same with any company. The same holds true for any country.
5. Champion small and mid-sized businesses to grow. If they have less restricted competition, then they have incentives to prosper and produce. In doing so, they will expand and hire more employees. More people receiving a paycheck means more taxable income. It also means more people having the earned income to spend on necessities and luxuries. That means more sales tax as well. Everybody wins.
The overall end state is economic prosperity in our country. It is a much increased GDP. It is a higher standard of living. It is people at work and a larger workforce participation rate. It is a better and happier America.
The details of his plan may not be one hundred percent set. They shouldn't be. Only a complete fool would do so. A good leader sets what are called "decision points" that build flexibility for contingencies. Romney knows that he will not have all the necessary data to complete those plans until he gets in office. He is not a fool who is going to remain rigid to a plan even if it is doomed to failure, as Obama's evidently was.
I watched Romney in the primary. One of my criticisms of him, at that time, was that he didn't seem to have a set platform. Now, that is one of his greatest strengths. His platform is an amalgamation of those he competed against for the nomination. He adopted aspects of their better ideas and accepted some of them as advisers as well. He remained open to good suggestions. That's what a leader does.
So, it is not true that Romney lacks a detailed plan. What is true is that Romney has vision. He has a clear objective and desired end state. He has many options to accomplish those objectives. Like a true leader, he is still open to suggestions, advice, criticism, and improvement.

Are September Employment Numbers Good News?
| Photo Copyright 2012 by P-G Matuszak. All rights reserved. |
At initial glance it appears to be good news. The U3 Unemployment Rate normally used by the left dropped to 7.8%. The fact it took almost four years instead of eight months should send warning sirens, though, since an unhampered normal market adjustment would have resulted in an approximate drop to 7.5% by September 2008 had unnecessary government intrusions not kept it inflated.
Another sign of not so bad news is that workforce participation did not fall significantly and remains at an abysmal 63.6%.
Private sector (civilian) job creation was reported at 418,000 new positions. However, that is strikingly lower than the number of people underemployed due to economic reasons which rose by approximately 600,000. What this indicates is that approximately 418,000 people gained temporary, part time jobs while 182,000 or so people who had "steady, full time" employment moved into part time positions or shifted from one temporary job to another. The U6 rate remains unchanged at 14.7%. Percentage of long-term unemployed rose to 40.1%.
If the workforce participation were the same as it was four years ago, then the combined unemployed and underemployed rate would be closer to 23%. The numbers indicate that people are still not working. The numbers also count people taking two or more part time jobs multiple times as though each job taken were by a separate person, thus skewing the numbers.
While the latest report should stir some level of optimism, it is, by and large, not strikingly great news. Again, people need to sit down and do some basic math. If you recall your basic statistics classes in college (as well as Econ 101 and 102), you know that you need to take all the statistics in conjunction as well as look at the data set (or sample population). With over 1/3 of working age Americans not participating in the workforce, these numbers really are not so great.

Classic Must See: The Naked City (1948)
For all the dark and gritty semi documentary police
procedurals we’re used to in film and TV, for graphic scenes of the crime
followed by routine investigations, with a big city as main character, you can go
way back and thank a man with one name and a good eye for detail. Usher Fellig,
an Austrian immigrant to New York, had a darkroom in the trunk of his car and went
from being a photo technician and photographer’s assistant to entrepreneur, to
covering the crime beat for a press service. Because he seemed to have the
uncanny ability to beat emergency vehicles to crime scenes and get choice shots,
he got (or gave himself) the nickname Weegee, a play on the Ouija board.
In 1945, Weegee put out a book of his ultra realist stark urban night scape tabloid style crime photos, called it Naked City. The best seller attracted the attention of New York columnist and Broadway playwright/short story writer turned Hollywood producer Mark Hellinger (The Killers and Brute Force) who secured the film rights to the book's concept and title Naked City for his new movie, a police procedural, and ended up not only buying into the cachet of a newly coined and very catchy term, but also hooking into loads of imagery and associations to New York City crime.

The Naked City
movie focused on a Brooklyn police department, its hard working detectives and
forensic experts, and was an amalgam of several real NYPD investigations. There's
an opening murder, a veteran Homicide detective, the older, wiser, crotchety and
clever, paired with and mentoring young war vet and new detective,
good looking, sharp and eager to learn.
The script emphasizes the investigative routine, profiling, and all the forensic rules modern viewers have had drilled into our brain, don’t touch or move anything, collect every scrap of what might turn out to be evidence, and follow every clue. The method leads to the discovery of a jewelry theft ring, and finally to a fearsome, sweaty, acrobatic, harmonica playing exwrestler, and one of the greatest chase sequences ever filmed, winding through back alleys and streets of the East side, to the Williamsburg Bridge, and from there high up into the sky.
Director Jules Dassin used every opportunity to frame a scene in order to showcase over one hundred NYC locations, countless beautiful shots of the city's endless motion. The city is a figure blamed by the model's parents for luring their daughter, then consuming her and making her insignificant. "This time yesterday she was just another pretty girl; today she's just yesterday's news."
The lack of big name stars helped the documentary style, the effect of a Weegee photo ripped from his book and come to life. Regular New Yorkers were captured in their "natural habitat", thanks to the innovative technique of shooting secretly from inside a truck fitted with a two-way mirror. The Naked City movie was a financial and critical hit, with Oscars awarded for editing and for black & white cinematography, and a nomination for screenwriting.
Sadly, the stress of shooting in the grueling heat of NYC’s hottest summer on record, dealing with a big budget and even bigger crowds contributed to Mark Hellinger's death of a heart attack at the age of forty-four, just before the film's release. With The Naked City, the filmmakers knew they were creating a new genre, and ended up setting the standard for the thousands of hours of derivative film and TV that it inspired. The procedural and forensic format has since sent various branches of the law searching and frantically chasing through many a big city, and The Naked City was where it all began.

Romney vs Obama Round 1 (Debate Analysis)
![]() |
| Romney speaks to his opponent. Obama looks like a child being scolded for doing what he knew was wrong. |
So, who won that first debate, Governor Romney or Obama? The simple answer rests in this tweet from Kevin Eder:
Romney did in 90 minutes what the lib media has refused to do in 4 years: tell the truth about Obama's record. The culmination of the debate was Obama backpedaling and grasping at straws.
— Kevin Eder (@keder) October 4, 2012
Attempting to analyze the debate from a more objective view, I will examine what I saw as the key points where each candidate scored points. However, I look for where a candidate's stand on issues is closer to my own in addition to where they clearly state their side, deconstruct the opposing view, or present a coherent and reasonable plan. Then there is an examination of the facts and accuracy to take into account.
Before looking at the candidates' performances, let's critique the moderator, Jim Lehrer. I have already seen slack from both sides that Mr. Lehrer was not assertive enough in controlling the debate, allowing some segments to go long while not pressing the candidates to answer the tough questions. I disagree. I liked the job Jim Lehrer did. What Mr. Lehrer accomplished was to allow the debate to be closer to a Lincoln Douglas style debate yet integrate some of the expectations of modern debate formats. He was largely unobtrusive, allowing the candidates to respond completely instead of just in ten second sound bytes. The format and his approach favored neither candidate and allowed each, with their individual oratory styles, to address their talking points. Whether intentional or accidental, Mr. Lehrer accomplished something that was needed, an actual discussion and debate of the topics and issues.
The debate started with opening remarks. Obama used them to talk to his wife, wishing her a happy anniversary and congratulating her on marrying a man who ended up elected into office.
Obama got his jabs in. He hit Romney with an increased five trillion dollar deficit as well as an increase of two trillion dollars in military expenditures through his plan to close loopholes, reduce deductions, and reduce rates on the "middle and upper classes". Obama claimed it was "simple math".
Obviously Obama failed simple math and basic algebra. His numbers are exaggerated. In addition, it's obvious he does not understand the Laffer Curve, which has proven to work. Increases in people employed and increases in salaries supply a proportionate increase in a taxable base. An increased tax-base means greater revenue, proven to be greater than just increasing the tax rate on a smaller tax-base. That, Obama, is "simple math".
However, Obama was correct in the initial increased deficit if cutting unnecessary and bloated government bureaucratic programs isn't done in conjunction. Therein, however, lies another failure in Obama's reasoning. Obama forgot to include that key variable in his equation.
Obama's other fast-jab was over "Romneycare" as the basis for "Obamacare". Elements of the PPACA do originate with the plan Romney executed into law while Governor. This is one of the main concerns that conservatives and libertarians have with Romney.
We also found out that Obama likes the moniker "Obamacare". Of course he would, since we have already established Obama's acute, clinical narcissism.
By and large, Romney did not sit in a guard position and attempt to deflect Obama's attempted hay-makers. Romney did, in fact, apply a little "Mental Aikido" and turned those points back onto Obama, displaying his failures. It was evident in the body language of the candidates. Mitt looked directly at Obama and smiled, then politely but firmly reduced Obama's rhetoric to the point Obama reminded me of the little girl in the movie "Kindergarten Cop" that says "I don' wanna be a powice officer, I'm a pwincess!".
Meanwhile, Obama mostly stared down at his notes hoping that accurate words would magically appear to save him. They didn't come. So he grimaced back tears and attempted to let loose with the same inaccurate quips he used when running for the US Senate. Romney threw that hypocrisy back at him, using Obama's own words against him.
Now, here is my summarized blow-by-blow of the debate:
The first topic was three questions (plus discussion) on Economics.
Obama claimed he grossed five million new jobs created. The current unemployment and workforce participation rates remain strong evidence that is far from true. There are fewer people working now than there were six months into Obama's term. Obama stood by government "investments" (subsidies) to green energy companies (as long as the government can control them, as is a key to fascism). He forgot that the majority of such ventures he directed have resulted in failed business, loss of jobs, and harm to the economy and private sector.
Romney shot back with his five-point plan: 1 - put the US on path to energy independence; 2 - enable open and free trade on a global scale; 3 - increase skills and education programs to make US more competitive on global market; 4 - balance the budget!!!; 5 - champion the small businesses that are the core for progress, employment, economic growth, and opportunity. Then Romney hit with a nice quip, "Trickle down government doesn't work".
Obama then stated he wants to increase federal oversight, funding, and involvement in education, taking over private schools and increasing the number of unionized, government teachers. He also stated that he wanted to eliminate more of the "middle men" involved in student loans, having students borrow directly from the government instead of private sector lending institutions (fascist takeover of banks). Consider this, if a student is in default on a loan to the government, the federal government can then arrest them and imprison them for failing to pay a debt to the government, just like jailing people for tax evasion. He went on to state that his future plans include investing in more businesses doomed to fail such as Solyndra.
Romney stated the obvious, Obama has no clear nor sound plan. Obama has no plan to cut taxes, only increase them. Obama has crushed the middle income earners (Romney correctly uses that term instead of the incorrect "middle class". There are no social/income classes in the US, only current income brackets for tax purposes.) Romney then also stated the obvious that many have somehow failed to see over the past several years -- a bloated bureaucracy sucks. Then Romney quipped a zinger at Obama "Unlike you, I like coal!". Romney was referring back to a path of US energy independence.
The next segment of discussion demonstrated that Obama doesn't understand economics while Romney understands and embraces proven economic theories such as the Laffer Curve and the necessity for job creation in order to grow the economy. Obama just wants to increase dependency upon the government in a form of socialism's modern version of economic slavery.
Obama incorrectly stated that ninety-seven percent of the "middle class" won't see any tax increases. The truth is his increased regulatory taxes on oil and coal are passed along to consumers in the incarnations of higher gasoline prices and higher food prices. Obama also failed to include the twenty-seven new taxes that the PPACA creates, most of which will fall on the middle-income-earners.
On the subject of the National Debt, Obama could do nothing but "blame Bush", despite the evidence that Obama's spending and over one trillion dollar yearly deficits have increased the national debt more in his less than four years than we saw under Bush during his eight years. In fact, Obama has accumulated more national debt while in office than we had under all the presidents, in aggregate, from Washington through Clinton and into the first two years under George W. Bush.
Romney attacked Obama's failures, to which Obama had no real rebuttal. You cannot justify failure. Romney talked about increasing efficiency and sending government programs back where they belong per the Tenth Amendment, at the state and local levels. Romney also stated that he "likes Big Bird". He also stated the hard, simple truth -- federal subsidies to PBS need to be cut. PBS is an NPO and should operate more on donations than on government subsidies. In reality, the government funding PBS and NPR can be construed as a violation of the First Amendment.
Obama attempted a rebuttal stating that he reduced medical fraud. In reality, he did not. He increased the propensity for it to occur under the PPACA. Obama also stated that the approximately top 3% of wage-earners need to fund everything for everybody else.
Romney then confronted Obama on his broken campaign promises and evident failure. He further beat Obama to his knees with the mostly-accurate figure of Obama's plans resulting in a loss of up to 700 Million more private sector jobs, particularly with the implementation of the PPACA.
On healthcare, the debate boiled down to two simple statements. Romney stated that Obamacare sucks, cuts Medicare by $716B, and takes away state and individual rights (including the 15-member "death panel"). Obama countered by stating that more people need to be dependent upon government programs, medicare, and socialist handouts. One more fact Romney raised was that the PPACA was not a bipartisan effort, but a purely socialist bill forced upon US Citizens without proper representation and against their wills. Of course, Obama's final rebuttal on the PPACA was something to the paraphrased effect of "It's the bomb because I say so".
On the role of government, Obama stated, in summary, that the role of government is to protect the people, keep them safe, and tell them how to live. His statements boiled down to championing having people stuck working for the government instead of themselves (and forcing government to work for them). He then, inaccurately and ineffectively, attempted to channel Abraham Lincoln but ended up sounding more like Joseph Stalin.
Romney stated, simply, the role of government is plainly and clearly stated in the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. To lead in this country is to first stick to those documents and promote individual natural rights. He then stated that some regulation is necessary to promote that goal. However, government should not regulate things to the point of strangling business or infringing upon those natural rights.
Next, the candidates discussed education policies.
For me, this was the defining point that killed any chance Obama could possibly have tried to garner in earning my vote. Obama wants to increase federal intrusion into public schools, to the level of dictating curricula. In fact, under Obama, public schools have gone so far as to confiscate lunches brought from home and issue substandard lunches as replacements at parental expense. The truth is that since the federal government has increased its involvement in education that student performance has proportionately decreased even though government school teachers and administrators have received some of the largest salary and benefit increases in comparison to other professions.
Romney made a statement that, in summary, is simple. Romney supports school choice, vouchers, and putting education back in the hands of states. municipalities, and parents where it belongs. It's that simple, Romney is for decreasing the influence of comprachico indoctrination and supports actual education.
Obama attempted a final punch hoping for a knock-out. He obviously failed to look at his own track record before opening his mouth. He stated "Budgets matter". Yes, Barack, they do. Perhaps you need to heed your own words. How many budgets have passed and been signed into law by you during your tenure? NONE! In fact, Obama's own party has voted down his proposals for spending too much and not cutting enough. Once more, Obama's last proposed budget bill resulted, in the Democrat-dominated Senate, with a vote of ninenty-nine "nays" and ZERO "yays". Obama highlighted one of his greatest failures. To his own supporters, this should serve as Obama falling on his own sword.
The debate wasn't a blow out like Reagan's against failed president Jimmy Carter. Romney did display class similar to "Dutch's" when he debated Bush Sr. and demanded that the moderator turn Bush's microphone back on so people could hear what he had to say.
This was a slow beat down that resulted in a TKO while Obama threw in the towel before taking the beating he had coming.
I am looking forward to the remaining debates. I thought they were going to be painful to watch. If this was Romney just warming up, the people of this country will have no choice but to acknowledge Obama's failure and the fact four more years of him in office will result, not in more of the same, but worse.

Turkey Approves Military Operations in Syria
After five people were killed, on Wednesday, by badly aimed Syrian weapons fire, Turkey struck back by firing artillery in response.
Several Syrian troops were reportedly killed by the responding fire, which has continued into Thursday.
NATO has condemned the firing into Turkey, whilst Russia has asked Syria to promise it will not happen again.
To add to the situation Turkey's parliament voted, nearly unanimously, to allow for their military to enter into Syria, if anything further happens.
Syria has yet to respond to Turkey's continued two day shelling of their territory.

Blue to Gold: ARMY Sgt 1st Class Aaron A. Henderson
ARMY Sgt
1st Class Aaron A. Henderson, thirty-three, of Houlton, Maine, died October second, at Bagram
Air Base, Afghanistan.
Less than a month ago, Jeff Swimm of Houlton had a surprise encounter with his friend and former colleague, Sgt. 1st Class Aaron Henderson.
The two met in a grocery store while Henderson was visiting his family, caught up for a few minutes and exchanged phone numbers. So when Swimm got a text message Monday telling him that Henderson had been severely injured in an improvised explosive device attack in Afghanistan, his heart sank. His stomach lurched. He sat at home and wondered if there was anything he could do.
The next morning, he awoke and checked Henderson’s Facebook page. And that’s when he learned the truth. Henderson was dead. There was nothing he could do. "I saw all of the [memorial] messages on his page and I think I cried for about an hour," Swimm said Wednesday. "I mean, I just saw him three weeks ago. It’s crazy. I just saw him."
Henderson, a member of U.S. Army A Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, died Monday at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan from wounds suffered in the attack on Sept. 30 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Henderson was a Special Forces communications sergeant in a company headquartered at Fort Campbell, Ky., according to information provided Wednesday by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. This was his fourth deployment in support of combat operations. Henderson completed three deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom before his most recent deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Swimm and Henderson met when they were teenagers, having just graduated from high school and taken jobs at a Houlton gas station. Hardworking, kind and close to his family, Henderson had a personality "that just stuck with you," Swimm said Wednesday. "He was quite a character," he said. "We would hang out after work and on weekends sometimes, and we had a lot of fun together. He loved to fish and was really into sports. We worked together for a couple of years."
Lori Weston, community development director for the town of Houlton, said it was Henderson’s "gregarious" character that helped draw him close to her three sons. The friendship meant lots of get-togethers between the two families. Henderson’s mother, Christine, and older brother, Sam, live in Houlton. His father, Dallas, a successful insurance salesman, died in 2010. A beloved figure in the community, Dallas Henderson once jumped into a swollen river behind his office to save two teenagers who had been swept away by the current and were struggling to get to shore.
"Our families just melded together immediately," Weston said. "There were lots of baseball and basketball games. Aaron was just such a unique guy. You felt his presence when he came into a room. When he talked to you, he really talked to you. He focused. He listened. Everyone else and everything else just melted away."
Being a Green Beret was a "natural fit" for Henderson, she said. "He was doing something on a grander scale to help people," she noted. Her three sons are devastated and in disbelief over the death of their friend.
Weston visited the Henderson family Tuesday evening. "Their hearts are shattered," said Weston. "They are still mourning the death of a husband and father. Christine described it as surreal. It's just almost too much to bear."
Henderson had a tight bond with his older brother, she said. "Sam and Aaron weren't just brothers, they were best friends," said Weston. "It was Sam who was first notified that Aaron had been injured. He is inconsolable."
At Hodgdon High School, which Henderson graduated from in 1997, a sign outside the school states: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Henderson family."
On Wednesday morning, WHOU, a Houlton radio station, held a moment of silence on the air before playing music in his memory. Funeral arrangements were pending Wednesday afternoon.
Swimm, reflecting on that last visit in the grocery store, said he told Henderson that the two should get together for a drink the next time he visited. Henderson agreed. Swimm paused as he remembered that final goodbye.

From the Mouth of Matuszak: Are 'Red States' Like AZ Turning Blue?
Compared to experts such as Erick Erickson and Jamie Dupree, I have not been tracking US political trends for very long. In fact, it was only an occasional hobby and interest during my years of military service. However, I tracked political trends and associated social and economic effects in other countries for almost two decades while serving in the intelligence community. Those factors deeply effect military operations of every type from humanitarian relief missions to full out combat operations. So, I am not new to such analysis.
I began studying Arizona when I was first stationed there in 2005. I decided that was where I preferred as my retirement location. As such, the state and local level geo-political trends directly affected my future. In the past year, one possibility became obvious, Arizona may be "turning blue".
Several events and factors may be leading to the possible shift, a shift also being noticed in some areas of Texas such as Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas where extreme leftists such as "Mayor" Julian Castro and "Representative" Sheila Jackson-Lee managed to get elected into office.
The first such factor is the increasing number of seniors retiring. The baby boomer generation is over 80% at retirement age (sixty-five). While many of them, including those former "hippies" from the seventies who changed their views as they aged, hold to moral and ethical values consistent with constitutional conservatism; this was the demographic responsible for The Weather Underground, Kent State, the race riots of 1968, and the aforementioned hippie movement. These are the teachers responsible for indoctrinating the second half of Generation X and all of the Millennial Generation (which includes most of the "occupy movement"). If one reads Ayn Rand's essay "The Comprachicos", the impact is more than obvious.
There are two major organizations that claim to lobby and work for retired seniors, the largest of which is the AARP. The AARP is joined at the reconstructed hip with the party of racial divide, Jim Crow, anti-military, and socialized programs, The Democrats. This organization still blames Nixon for Vietnam though it was there beloved JFK who put us there, and Johnson, who kept us there while restricting our operations for "diplomatic reasons". This is the group that supports the false narrative meme that constitutional conservatives will take away their "free" medical benefits and cut their social security checks. That is probably because conservatives originally opposed the unconstitutional social security program when FDR rammed it down the nation's throat. So, the ideologies and scare tactics are deep rooted in this demographic.
Another factor in some "red states", such as Arizona and Texas, "turning blue" is migration. The migration to these states comes from the state's own more conservative tax policies. Texas has a low capital gains tax and no income taxes. Arizona lowered its state income tax to a flat two percent. These factors have led businesses, and their workers, to migrate to Arizona and Texas. While the conservative fiscal policies and tax laws brought them to the states, their tax and spend, "let's give them fish instead of teaching them how to fish" socialism-based ideologies came with them. Of course, they are too myopic to realize their votes for the leftists are just shots into their own feet.
Migration also took place for reasons other than pure fiscal and economic reasons. Natural disasters, such as the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, made domestic refugees out of areas affected by those cataclysms. People needing assistance and safe haven, as well as those too lazy to fend for themselves, flocked to Texas and Arizona, bringing the socialist ideologies from their previous homes with them. Again, it was the natural generosity of conservative charity that provided them with those safe havens, not the government taking from those who had it and forcing them to share what they rightfully earned.
For example, Arizona's state level universities, such as University of Arizona-South, offered in state tuition, waived fees, and special scholarships to Katrina victims. They brought their Frankfort School indoctrinated minds with them and pushed the already Marcuse influenced colleges further to the left. While at school, they registered to vote in AZ, and will likely vote "blue".
The last, and probably most frightening, evident factor is tied with illegal immigration. In Arizona, several factors and events culminated with the assassination of prominent Cochise County rancher Robert Krentz into SB1070. Though the bill garnered some bipartisan support in the Arizona legislature, left-wing activists demagogued it (falsely, since those believing it so fail to research the true meaning) as "fascist".
Border states, such as Arizona, contain significant numbers of immigrants, both legal and illegal. Many of the legal ones have family members stuck south of the border, or who are in the US illegally. Among those are so-called "anchor babies", many of which are of voting age. They see the bill as personal attacks against their family members, both those that are criminals and those who are law-abiding but kept out of the US by the intense web of red-tape immigration law has become. To them, "family values" and constitutional conservativism are overshadowed by fear of loss of government handouts and seeing their criminal family members "fall victim" to the crimes they committed (by being caught). It matters little to them that the very socialism they came to the US to escape is what they are voting to instill into this republic.
The left uses this to its advantage, encouraging illegals to use stolen identification to register to vote, and vote for the left. They use the language barrier to lie to even those in these states legally about election law, and convince them to do other things, such as hand the leftists their PEVL ballots, in order to sway the election. Current Arizona voter laws require proof of citizenship at the time of registration. However, federal law as well as federal court decisions state that no such proof is required if the registrant uses the federal voter registration form instead of the state form. The left used this decision to their advantage and sent out activists to register ineligible people using the federal form.
The results of these factors and events have become increasingly apparent over the past few years.
After the 2010 census, Arizona did what every census mandates (and is the entire purpose for the census). Arizona redrew its congressional districts. (This is, of course, another factor for the change as the lines are redrawn in efforts to increase the left-wing population of each congressional district.)
Before the new district designations went into effect, AZ-CD-8 held a special election to fill the vacancy left by Gabby Giffords. Though the best candidate for Arizona would have been Jesse Kelly, socialist Ron Barber won. Frighteningly, Barber won partially because Martha McSally, a Republican Candidate who lost the primary to Jesse Kelly, allegedly campaigned for Barber in an effort to keep Jesse from competing against her in the general election for CD-2. She or her supporters also, allegedly, convinced conservatives to "sit out" the special election. AZ-CD-8 is re-designated as CD-2 for the 2012 general election. Of note, Martha McSally is far left of Jesse Kelly in her ideology, even though she is registered as a Republican. Between push-back for SB1070, voter fraud, and McSally's divisive campaigning, the largely "red" district yet again voted "blue".
Arizona's representative from Congressional District that covers Yuma is a man named Raul M.Grijalva. If you conduct an internet search on the name your hair will raise (unless you are a die-hard communist). Raul is a long-time member of the radical racial hate group MEChA, and a supporter of the left-wing extremist, racist group called La Raza. He opposes SB1070, a law the vast majority of Arizona citizens strongly support. He also opposes Arizona's support of the Second Amendment with the state law that removed the necessity for a permit in order to exercise the Constitutionally guaranteed right to carry (bear) arms (to include doing so concealed). Of note, the no-permit-required concealed carry law is also opposed by Ron Barber though his mentor and predecessor, Gabby Giffords, openly supported it (against party platform).
In Arizona's CD-9 you have congresswoman Krysta Sinema. Sinema is a devout leftist that supported the PPACA blindly, without reading it, despite the fact most in Arizona oppose the law. She flagrantly opposes SB1070 and Arizona's decision to stop infringing upon the Second Amendment.
These opponents of the US Constitution and the conservative values of our Constitution's authors, advocates, and ratifiers somehow secured election into our nation's legislature. They have done so despite representing largely conservative constituencies. There remain only three explanations for this:
1. Arizona is swinging "blue"
2. Voter Fraud and election corruption
3. A combination of the above
