Twenty-seven people were killed when a riot broke out in Turpan, Xinjiang, China.
A group of Uighur Muslims attacked multiple buildings, including the police station.
They torched vehicles and stabbed people as they went, killing nine police and eight civilians before police opened fire on them killing ten.
Some reports say that the mob was throwing homemade explosive devices, as well.
Xianjiang province regularly sees violent disruptions, as the Uighur clash with other ethnic groups.
