European Youth Unemployment in Critical Levels

For much of Europe unemployment is at an all time high, and that is causing more problems than simple unhappiness with the government. Significantly big is the rate for those under twenty-five.

In Spain and France fifty-three percent of those under twenty-five are currently unemployed. Portugal, Slovakia, and Italy are living with rates around thirty-five percent. Ireland is showing twenty-nine, a little above the EU's rate of twenty-six. France and Britain are below with twenty-three and twenty-two respectively.

Throughout the developed world, it is those from the below twenty-five, as well as those from twenty-five to thirty-five that are feeling the brunt of the global economic depression. In many European countries crime rates are rising, especially among youths. Governments are trying different approaches to solve the crisis, but nothing has worked so far.

The youth are growing more visibly angry over the situation. Not only is work hard to find, but they, just like their American counterparts, have been forced to end up back home. Some have taken to calling themselves "youth without a future". Most see leaving for another country as the only way out. But as this is a global event, there are few places for them to go.
