Colorado's Senate is considering a bill that would allow illegal immigrants to obtain a driver's license.
To acquire a license, immigrants would have to prove that they are paying federal and state taxes, have an ID from their county, and pass a driver's test.
Democrats are backing the bill, while Republicans are opposing it.
As the Democrats control the Senate and House, the bill is considered likely to pass.
Supporters of the bill say that since illegals are already driving it would be beneficial to have them licensed and insured.
Opponents state their worries that it is a step towards amnesty for illegals.
Illinois, New Mexico, and Washington already offer licenses for immigrants.
