Mayon Volcano Erupts Killing 5 in Philippines

Twenty-seven people were hiking on Mayon volcano in the Philippines when it erupted, Tuesday morning.

A sixteen hundred foot tall plume of smoke and ash flew out of the volcano throwing boulders, stones, and rocks around.

Five of the hikers were killed and another five injured, when they were struck by debris.

Four of the dead were German tourists.

After the explosion, a four mile "danger zone" was evacuated from around the volcano.
